My boy's work ride needed some TLC. Monday was the day, I did the rear brakes, changed the oil and welded the tail pipe back on.
The pads separated from the backer, joy's of living in the rust belt.

Yesterday, I replaced the fuel pump and filter on my girlfriend’s 2004 Crossfire.
It had sat for 3 years. I am going to change the oil, oil filter today and order engine and cabin air filters.
Brakes feel mushy (a mechanic of unknown trust worked on them 3 years ago), so I plan to check the front pads and bleed the brakes. Finally, I will have the headliner replaced by an upholstery shop.
The car has ~47k miles and runs great.

I love the Crossfire, but I can't get in them. Looked at both a convertible and the coupe, and they were both a bear in ingress and egress. And I thought my old '95 Corvette was a pain! But, boy, are they fun to drive!

I've been crankin' on my latest beast, a '69 D300 cab & chassis. I think I have the wiring about 95% sorted out, as my cab clearance lights and my dome light still don't work. Got the floor scrubbed down for application of some sound deadener, as these uninsulated cabs are notorious for noise. The fuel tank gets hooked up tonight, so we'll see how she runs off the tank and not a 16oz bottle. I got both the front and rear windshield rubbers ordered, and I'll order the front glass after they arrive. It's all scratched-up and also has two small rock chips in it that make it unsuitable for having a glass shop fix. Both of my front brake wheel cylinders blew out in a yard-drive on Sunday. I'm mulling over doing a front-disc conversion as a result, but I need to pull the drums to see what all is needed to fix what I have...beside the brake cylinders, obviously!

Tonight, I need to get my new fuel tank installed in the Imperial. Our BIG car show/swap/race event is in a week, and I haven't done squat on the convertible. Needs a good detail with the clay bar, and a polish and wax afterwards.
 
I pulled the original headliner and insulation out of the 66 300 today. I was able to get the new insulation in before the heat ended the day.

Working on the Imperial for a bit today, following yesterday's busy show day. Topped off the rear axle, tightened up a few squeaks inside, and cleaned off a few dead bugs out of the grille.
 
Took my car for a drive for the first time since last Sunday. It just wasn’t running as smooth as normal at idle and smelled a little rich. I first noticed it last Saturday when in Stillwater but chalked it up to being 97 degrees. When idling in gear it seemed a little rough, but in park or neutral it would idle better. I decided I would put my tach and vacuum gauge on and tweak the idle mixture. Low and behold I was missing the cap on my vacuum booster Tee. It seemed that sometime in Stillwater last weekend it fell off or I knocked it off dusting my engine compartment. I have done this a couple of times in the garage so I should have replaced it then. I put a new tighter one on it now and idles much smoother and acts normal.
It’s always the simple things.

My 1954 Hudson Super Jet left with its new owner yesterday afternoon. The woman who bought it is planning to leave the car stock, but with a color change to Turquoise. Her husband has a hot-rodded '40 Hudson, and her Dad has a '37 Chevy hot rod and is building a '39 Chevy pickup for his wife. So, I'm pretty sure its in good hands with new, appreciative owners.
 
I've spent some time getting the interior ready for new sound insulation and carpeting on my 68 New Yorker. There was a leak coming in from the cowl that destroyed the original carpet and padding up front so I had tore that part out piece by piece when I first found the car. No more leaks.

There was a leak coming in from the cowl that destroyed the original carpet and padding up front so I had tore that part out piece by piece when I first found the car. I think my '68 has a leaking heater core that was draining inside too. I bypassed the heater unit for now but the carpet (front and back) is already pretty damaged. I think I need to rip the carpet and padding out fairly soon or I will end up with floor panel issues, if there aren't any already. From underneath it looks solid though.

I was look at this site for replacement carpets... Auto Carpet for Car, Truck, Van - Stock Interiors anyone used them?

Yesterday I replaced a brake line on my truck - replaced the tail light (which had passed inspection for the last 4 years) and sorted out the power steering hose. The drivers side window regulator in my Firebird crapped itself about a bit over week or so ago, and it's A/C decided Tx summer is too hot for it to deal with. Think black glass T-Tops on a dark blue car in 100 degree heat......
Yeah, so far I've had a great month. LOL
On the plus side, I have a new window regulator/motor combo coming, a new carb coming for the NY'er.
I may be in debtors court soon, but at least they have a/c, or so I'm told :p

When I found mine, the owner said the exact same thing. The heater core was leaking so they bypassed it by connecting the heater hoses together. I have yet to test that out. I poured water into the cowl as a test and found lots of water came straight on to the floor behind the dash. I sealed the cowl drainage area to stop it. I didn't try Auto Carpet but I did find some good Jute padding from Legendary Auto Interiors

Putting tires on the VW Friday afternoon.

Pick up my free 4K-mile 318 4-bbl engine and a fresh 904 Saturday morning. This 318 will eventually replace the 318 on the D300. Anyone needing a 904 for a very reasonable price?

Bleed brakes on the Coronet and road-test Sunday.

Clean the damned shop up through the weekend!
 
Got the jeep up on stands right now. New leaf spring bushings in the rear, boomerang shackles, rebuildable heims on both the upper and lower CA's, bushing to uniball conversion on the upper CA mount of the axle, and a new front axle housing. On the housing I'm boxing it, doing a minor truss, and I'm welding on C-Gussets (the old housing was SHOT).

Forgive the goobered welds on the housing. There were a lot of start and stops to prevent warping the axle tube.

The truck seat and visors are at the upholstery shop. Saved over $100 on my material! July 9 is the target date. Brake parts are ordered.

Eating breakfast while my wife's tire pressure sensor gets replaced on the RR tire.
