Carlisle 2021

I park my 300 (and I'm sure others do) with the rest of the C body guys so we can be with people that we know. I could give a rat's *** about trophies or plaques.

The 300 class shouldn't be separate and I've only heard it was because of some bitching by the 300 club(s) that established a class. I have no idea, nor care if that is true.

FWIW, none of the 300s won anything in the C body class... and actually, an Imperial won second (congrats!) and I don't hear anyone bitching about that.

This is all supposed to be for fun... It's judged by guys with cars on the field. Probably less than half actually participate. There is no accurate judging at Carlisle... It's all about the whim of the public.

A side note:
I've done car show judging and I always did it as fairly as possible. I've given awards based on merits of the car alone and I've worked with the organizers to give "special awards" to people that deserve it much more than their cars do. One guy (with terminal cancer) got a special award at a show that I had judged. The car wasn't that bad and it was a "spirit of" type award. Because his car wasn't quite up to par (according to one trophy hound) I was wrong for doing that. I walked away from him shouting at me twice, the third time I turned, I wasn't walking away... His wife saved his ***. ( I can still hear her saying "That guy is going to kick your *** if you don't shut up") That was 25+ years ago and I've never judged a car show since. The guy that won the award was just about in tears (along with his family). The best and worst moments of the time I spent judging were defined within a half an hour.

Whenever I hear people gripping about show judging or classification, I think about that and that puts it all in perspective.

I understand parking with friends. I enjoy seeing everyone and hanging out with the FCBO family.

However.

Last year 2 300s won in the C body class 1st and 3rd (had they been parked in the proper class others would have had a chance)

This year only 1 car parked out of class took 2nd. Surely it would have gotten 1st if parked with the correct class.

I dont expect to win. I dont come to win, but with how people park out of class...I know my cars will never get an honest shot at a surprise win.

AND if you really didn't care you wouldn't put the card in the window.

So, there's two options that will please you guys.

@Ripinator , @david hill and myself park with the 300 guys. That seems to cover all the 300s on this forum, but there are others that we have no way to contact.

I'll put a "DO NOT JUDGE" sign next to my card. I have one already made as a matter of fact. BTW, I put my card in the window purely to identify who I am and where I'm from. Dave and Rip would do the same.

I'm not speaking for those guys, just giving an option to make you guys happy and you know I'm all about that...

But, both you guys will have to attend... I'm not going out of my way to make you happy when you aren't there, like this year for example.

Dave's right. Wanna park with us? Cool. Saturday rolls around you pull that card out of the window.

Maybe flip it over and write DO NOT JUDGE on it.

2020.

David won 1st. Beautiful 300. Love his car. Parked in the wrong class.

Charles would have taken 1st instead of 2nd with the Newport Vert.

Guy with the 300 H took third.

Eliminate those two parked and judged out of class...who would have won 2nd and 3rd?

300s from 65-71 are c-bodys and nothing else IMHO
So they should always park with the other C-bodys.

The 55-61 Letter cars play their own game anyway

Technically speaking. You aren't wrong.

But they have their own class. 300 non letter cars. 62-71 & 79. Thats where 300s should be judged. Against other 300s.

That's not the way the class is set up. You should park in class period.
They once did a convertible section. I parked there, hated itIt separated the classes too much.

I find the quote it's not about the win, it's about the adventure getting there more than valid. Congrats Tim on your second place award. This proves that hard work is always rewarded.
