Thank you.

I have this one which might be an older version, part number is 2586967 and the instructions are for 1966 model year cars.
it looks similar except it doesn’t have the brushed trim.

FYI - unless I'm very much mistaken (and I could be - lol), both tachs shown are later model versions, and the instructions included are not for those tachs. They are for the tachometers that came in an all metal case with a specific plastic gasket that looks different than the one shown.

The earlier 66 tachs require a separate sending unit "can" that sits under the console cover.

Here are a couple of pics of a console tach that those instructions are for.

Thank you. It does look like the one I'm searching for, except for that strange "visor" that seems to me like an added thing. Does it look like it can be removed?
I don't see any screws holding the "visor" on so I assume that it's held on with some kind of adhesive. I tried to lift it around the edges at several different places but it's stuck on really good.

After reading through the instructions, I think you’re spot on regarding the tachs being newer and the instructions being for an older tach like the one you’ve pictured. I should have read the instructions earlier instead of assuming they went with the tach because they were part of the same lot. Page two of the instructions shows the wiring with the separate sending.unit as shown in your pics.

Looking at this closer, it does appear to have the brushed trim ring hiding under the “visor”. I wonder if it’s a newer version of the same part or maybe an alternate version for use on top of the dash.

I don't think the "visor" on the tachometer is original equipment; it was most likely added to the tachometer.

Agreed - I think that "visor" is home made.

@FK3 Sport Fury - I'd love a scan of those instructions if possible. Please PM me.

On another note - is that Tach for sale? Might be a neat addition to my 440 TNT 66 T&C - I already have a vacuum gauge that I hung upside down under the dash turning the guts inside upside down so that it would appear right side up and I would be interested in doing that with the tachometer as well.

You're right. I got a bit braver and pushed the "visor" back with some muscle and it slid off the back of the housing with no damage and it definitely appears to be the one pictured by Chrome58

Very sorry to have to chase you through other threads, but your PM's are full and I can't find any other way to contact you.

WANTED - 69 stub frame

You posted here that you have a complete stub for sale, and my '66 Polara needs one badly. Please fire me a PM or email about it because I'm quite interested in buying it. Thanks.
