a canadian tag might be differently formatted than a us 1
Not really - my tags on all 3 of my 66s are pretty much identical to the USA tags. The only difference I've seen is with USA and Canadian serial numbers - the sequence number typically starts at 200,000 as opposed to 100,000 for USA cars.

And they have a strange 64 code for the 383-4.
thats why i said might be, the tag on my 69 monaco 500 convert doesnt seem quite the same as US 69 tags.

That’s a function of the Windsor plant. Late 69 Windsor tags look like their American counterparts
