New car production

The car lots in our area still look like the parking lot at a vacant building... empty. Has anyone heard when production will increase to something like normal.
@Dobalovr what are you hearing from Ma Mopar?
Let's just say that I will have been waiting almost 6 months to the day to get one into production :wideyed:, but it looks like it's almost on the line. Dobalovr will be glad so that I will stop hounding him.

I ordered a new truck in July last year. Arrived in December. It was a wait but I got exactly what I wanted and I got it for invoice minus holdback. Your paying MSRP on a lot.

Chain supply issues. Lack of parts. Issues compounding on one another, first Covid lockdowns, now the war.

Maybe second half of next year, but i have serious doubts, it may take over a year from now, or longer.
I work in this business.

Well up here we are swimming in inventory at the moment. FCA made the "Smart" decision to pull the majority of the years production into the first half of the year to take advatntage of the fact Ford and GM had nothing on their lots. This means we have more inventory right now then we did 2 years ago at theis time. However this also means the rest of the year is going to be tight on inventory so it's kinda pay me now versus pay me later. The GM store hasn't had more than 5 trucks on his lot all year. We have 20 times that on our lot. The factory is telling us that inventory levels won't return to pre-pandemic levels for another 18 months minimum. Of course higher tech features like self parking/driving and 360 cameras are still not available due to chip shortage but we seem to have no trouble making @commado1 specials :)

@Dobalovr Did they stop making the Grand Caravan?

The current administration just recently put big money in bringing chip production to the U.S. so we don't have to rely on China among others to strangle our production ever again.

I prefer things to be more costly, even at my own expense, as long as production is more local/ or at normal western thinking, civilised regions of the world.

Fixed . . . @commando1

@Dobalovr Are they no longer making Grand Caravans? You cannot do a build and buy on the website. This is all that comes up.

So......
We're talking base stripper 6 speed R/T with incentives and rebates?
Those days are loooooooooog gone and now gone forever.

EDIT: A while back, before the Covid shitstorm flucked up the auto industry plus the ultra liberal flucktards blackmailing the industry to go electric, Graham and Bob @1978 NYB were helping snag a 6 speed at a bargain basement price. My greed kept pushing for another grand before the Dealership told me goodbye.

Greed... One of the 7 deadly sins.
Learned my lesson on that as I see $5k - $25k markups.

Spill it, Peter. What'chu talking bout.

The mythical "chip shortage" is the usual BS reason I'm hearing.

Whatever the reason, I don't care. I'll not be buying a new vehicle anytime soon. In fact, ever!
