So....now what?
I've got a pretty decent backstory that I'll include when I get some time. The short version is that this is my 2nd 1960 New Yorker (NYR). So, I guess it's like in Futurama,
this is the NEW New Yorker (NYR2).

This one isn't in as great shape as the first one, but it's pretty complete & possibly, not far off from being Road-worthy. I didn't look at all that - I just wanted it, so I plopped down $Big Buxx$ & managed to find a great Towing Company (Marcus of MJK Services of Fayetteville, GA kicks axx!) that hauled it abt 40 miles for a great price.

Anyway. I know that the 'Patina' look is a 'thing'...but I always have to laugh when I see the rust 'preserved' under a layer of clear-coat. The 'Hypster Doofuses' own that space. Nonetheless, the thickness of the steel in these cars is tank-like, so my 'Patina' would be genuine, withot the clear-coat, LOL.

OR...maybe I should undertake the 'Proper' Resto.

Whaddya ya'll think?

I like it as the FL 4dr hardtop rooflines are just dead sexy.
I like the fact is does not have the "toilet seat" trunklid and the tail light lenses are still there. Usualy stolen for a chopped 51 Merc..lol
 
Is your first one a 4 door as well, or a 2 door?

Yes, the sheet metal in those cars was generally pretty stout, except for the trunk floor pan that was unusually thin and quickly subject to rust holes.

60 New Yorkers are just great automobiles and as noted above, even their 4 door styling is pretty good looking with the high arched rear glass very similar to the 2 door models.
 
Nice car. I agree "patina" is not cool. Just my opinion that rust is to be gotten rid of if possible and not preserved.
We had a 60 Saratoga as a kid. Always loved those angled fins and taillights. And the 4 place "cup holders" on the glovebox door. Even at the drive-ins, they weren't much good.
 
Do you have the information on the yard. I wouldn't mind trying to score that imperial.
I bought from a guy who had some cars (incl that Imperial) in a Storage Facility. Unfortunately, he sold that Imperial. I also like that gen of Imperials. It seemed like one of the few models that Chrysler got that right during that period. At least, from the aesthetics.
 
Congrats on a nice find. Opportunities to pick up 1960 New Yorkers aren't common. I'd say get it running/driveable. As fas as "patina" goes, the roof needs it most, so you could just paint that white to start, and see how you like it afterwards. You have your work cut out on the interior, but the bones are all there. Good luck with it. The Forward Look page will have a lot of good advice as well......

LOL on the 'cup holders'. Things like this just seemed to be the M.O. of the Greatest Generation - "You want to drink coffee in a car? OK, college-boy, we'll tell Engineering to drop everything so we can to give you a place to put your fancy Dixie Cup..."

The ’67 Newport that was as much a part of my childhood as the human family members had similar “cup holders,” too. Likewise for some Dodge B-vans. Motorized demonstrators of Newton’s First Law. :wideyed:
 
Hey Arch, are you familiar with AMS obsolete in Fairmount, GA? It's a huge place out in the woods with warehouses stacked to the rafters with Mopar parts. There are around 600 cars spread all across the property, all Mopars. It's mindbottling.
 
"patina" Is a good selling point nowadays because paint and any body work are getting so expensive done right

I like the Chrysler fined cars and the body looks in good shape nice find
 
Fix that interior, and get it running and roll baby roll!
BTW, I'll be spending the rest of my weekend bottling my mind.....luv it

Did that used to be FMMoper? Frank Mitchell. If so, I went up there about 25 yrs ago.
 
Which one there is his son, Mike or ???
I was wrong about his son. Frank had two daughters, only. I’m not sure who is carrying on the business. Perhaps it is a grandchild or a son-in-law. I really don’t know but it definitely is Frank’s old collection. He died nine years ago.
