Does anyone make a starter for a '58? Either a new, rebuilt or some type of aftermarket starter for the 392?
Don't have your original to rebuild?
I do have the original... it still works, but is getting a little slow. Personally, I think I would rather just get a new one, as this car will be a driver anyway.
Just my opinion but I would rather have the original rebuilt by a reputable shop and never touch it again as opposed to buying some after market starter.
After a proper rebuild, if it was needed, I have never had an original starter fail.
Have you checked you cables and cleaned both ends?
If you have replacement battery cable ends, get rid of them.
I always pull the starter and wire wheel the mounting surface of the starter and bell housing as well as the starter bolts.
I do have a replacement cable end on the positive cable. Does anyone make a good, proper positive cable for a '58?
