My tank is bad. Soft and squishy metal. The tanks from Van's and Dante's are side fill. Does anyone know where I can find a new tank with the rear fill?

Thanks!

Not sure what you are looking for , but try Tanksinc.com . They have a lot of tanks and it doesnt sound like the one you are looking for is orginial to the car?

My car fills from the rear behind the license plate. That's normal. The 2 ordered that said they were for this model fill from the side and won't work.

Every new tank I have seen is for a Plymouth with side fill.
IDK if this will fit your car, should be similar. Behind license plate fill. Fill tube may be shaped differently.
It's out of a '66 Monaco.

I just looked on Van's website and they are listed there.

I suspect all of the tanks are coming from whatever production facility that Spectra uses. Price and "free shipping" variations have existed. Van's used to be the one with competitive prices and "free shipping".

IF you are finding a side-fill tank for your Dodge, that would be a catalog error, I suspect. Same tank fits Dodges and Chrysler, non-wagons, rear center fill. New ones used to be in the $300.00 range, IIRC.

Last time I looked, RockAuto showed the center-fill tanks listed. Same part number that Spectrum has on their website. PICTURES at RockAuto, too.

I got that and it is a side fill, not a center fill tank.
With all due respect, that is a rear fill tank, same as my 67 300. Max 426 has shown you a tank that looks to be very similar to the one you need. The filler neck is off kilter in the photos, but it does go straight in to the tank. These rear fill tanks increase in depth from the rear of the car to the front of the car, where you will see the fuel sending unit that connects to your fuel system. It will be difficult to ascertain whether his tank will fit your car and it is "used". The last thing I want to do is disparage his offer of a fuel tank, but remember that used tanks need to be boiled by a good radiator shop to get all the crud out of them, and should be resealed inside, because over the years road grit and rocks put tiny pin holes in them that you cannot see easily. His tank looks to be undercoated, which may help. If your filler neck is good, get the filler neck gasket new for install, get a new fuel sending unit and the proper lock ring that it needs, not the cheap crap that comes with them. Take your tank straps completely out, paint them, clean up the long drop bolts and reinstall it. Been there, done it a few times.

Just want to emphasize that when you replace, make sure you get new gaskets and lock ring. I got a new tank about 2 years ago after mine was damaged during a theft attempt, from Tanksinc I believe? They had one that was a perfect fit.

Use the new gasket may be but don't throw away the lock ring. The newly made lock rings are too thin and don't fit tightly. Reuse the old one.
