65 dodge Monaco wire harness

Are you wanting to re-wire the whole car of just the underhood?

Your main area of concern? There will be a "forward lamp harness", an engine harness, hvac harness, radio harness, instrument panel harness, "rear lamp harness", etc. Many smaller harnesses make the whole vehicle harness.

Yeah i wanted to re wire the whole car because the guy who had the car before half assed the wiring

So what other models and years are compatible for the wiring harness on a 65’ dodge Monaco
If I had that problem I’d attack it two ways. First I’d find a service manual for my car. It will have wiring diagrams that include wire colors and wire gauge sizes. Second, in those years Plymouth and Dodge were essentially the same vehicle. Under the skin they shared everything. So I’d scour yards for a Plymouth or a Dodge that had the same options as mine. If the options are different the wiring will be different. Air, power seats and windows would be my first criteria. If mine has them I’d consider a Plymouth with them. Though I’d guess that air conditioning and power seats or the lack of should be the primary consideration.

So, what issues (other than cosmetic) are you seeking to make better? In what areas of the car?

When you look at the factory service manual schematics, it does not take long to learn that everything is not just two wires going somewhere and coming back to the source, for everything. For example, there can be one feed circuit which branches out to go 5 different areas, from one wiring junction connection . . . which is something the aftermarket wiring "DIY kits" obviously do not account for. Painless Wiring can be one of them, too, as it the company's heritage is in the street rod realm of things. MUCH simpler wiring!

I would highly suggest that if you do not already have one, to download a file from www.mymopar.com (might need to manually input that address) of the Factory Service Manual that best-fits your vehicle. THEN see if the prior owner was just repairing bad terminals or chafted wiring OR embarking on a mission to "make things better" (according to what he/she perceived things should be). Or are there remnants of a ground-pounding thumper sound system?

I highly suspect that all Chrysler products on the C-body platform of that model year range (especially the 1965-1968 model year range) would pretty much "wire" the same. There will be differences in engine choice, though, between a small block and big block, though!

In dealing with the wiring harness, you might discover a main issue can be the condition of the terminals in the BULKHEAD CONNECTOR. As good as they might have been sealed when new, over time, "gunk can happen" which compromises the connections in there. Kits are available to address these factors. Sometimes, just a good cleaning and re-sealing of things can take care of these issues.

Take care,

I suspect that '65 Chrysler and Plymouth Fury wiring should be very similar (probably not 100% identical ) to the Dodge, but 1966 and newer cars have a different bulkhead connector design.
