Electric window motor.

I have a question about the window motor on my 68 300. I finally removed the door panel, I dont see much detail in fsm how to remove the motor, passenger side 2dr. Im not sure where to start! Can anyone give any tips on this procedure? Im afraid to start removing bolts to see what happens!!

There's two ways to do it. One is the way the FSM procedure. The other is way easier and IMHO, safer.

This isn't my picture, but it shows what you need to do. You drill 3 holes in the door panel large enough for a socket where the mounting bolts for the window motor are. Then you just unhook the plug and unbolt the motor. Then maneuver it out of the big hole in the bottom of the panel. Nothing else needs to be removed.

Hardest part is figuring out where to drill the holes, but that's just a matter of looking at it. A hole saw with the drill pushed up so it just peaks out works best.

No need to do anything else. All window adjustments stay in place. The regulator with its finger amputating spring stays right where it is, untouched. Simple as can be. I've done this a couple times now on different cars and it worked great.

I noticed there is a 2 wire pig tail that comes off the window switch that looks like plugs right to motor leads. Is it possible to put 12 volts to either one of the spade ends and see if the motor moves?

You have to ground one and power to the other. To make the window go the other direction, reverse the two, but it needs both ground and power to work.

Thanks for that! Im gonna make sure that is the motor or switch. The drivers side window is the only one that works.

Remove the regulator whole. There is no need to hack up the panel just to make the job quicker. Everything has 50 years of dried up grease on it anyway, and should be cleaned up and re-lubed.

Oh lordy yes, I still may have a scar from one I tried to remove without a clamp in a junkyard years ago. I also vote for removing the whole thing to renew the grease, etc.
With a helper have them operate the switch while you listen closely to the offending door area. You should hear a faint click if the switch provides power even if the motor is dead and locked, IMHO.
