Which "book" are you using? You can also check the 1962 Chrysler Parts Manual to decode the VIN for your car, too.my book shows a 383-4 barrel in 1961. in 1962 does not show a 4 did they put a 383 4 barrel in a 1962 Chrysler ?

Otherwise, availability as listed, plus the 361 two barrel.
Not much. An Enforcer second digit is '9' in the VIN, which was used for for 1956-1965 police models.Do you know much about these? A friend thinks he has one, something about chrysler made a batch of white ones for the CHP to try out? I'd gathered they were all manual
Thanks Vaanth! I will have to re- hear the story next time I run into him..Not much. An Enforcer second digit is '9' in the VIN, which was used for for 1956-1965 police models.
CHP purchased over 1200 1962 Enforcers. Like some other arrangements, Chrysler worked with the CHP to meet their specific requirements.
The 361 two-barrel was standard in the 1962 Enforcer with the 383 four-barrel optional. The 383 four-barrel also had a higher performance camshaft. The three speed manual transmission was standard with a heavier duty 11" clutch for the 383, with Torqueflite optional. The 383 with automatic had a rear axle ratio of 3.23:1. The CHP highway cars were 383s.
Several other assorted heady duty parts for police duty such as suspension, brakes, and electrical systems like those used in other Mopar police vehicles were included.
I see a single 4 barrel intake listed for 62 in my Galen parts book. #2205968 There was also an inline dual quad 383 with 343 hp. . 61 had an inline dual quad intake and a cross ram as well but no single 4 barrel.my book shows a 383-4 barrel in 1961. in 1962 does not show a 4 did they put a 383 4 barrel in a 1962 Chrysler ?
