1966 Newport 383 — Factory Mechanical Fan & Spacer Part Numbers?

Hello all!

I recently acquired a 1966 Newport with the stock 383 2-barrel engine. The previous owner removed the factory mechanical fan and installed an aftermarket electric unit in front of the radiator.

I'd like to return to the factory setup if possible. I checked the factory service manual, and it states that my non-A/C model wouldn’t have had a fan shroud and originally came with an 18" 4-blade fan paired with a 1.72" spacer.

I’ve looked on eBay, but there seem to be quite a few variations of these fan blades, and I’m not sure how to find the correct factory part numbers.

Can someone please help me find the part numbers for the fan blade and the corresponding spacer?

Found it! Looks like the bottom line in this section fits my car:

"w/383, 440 cu. in. Eng., W/O Air Cond.,
w/o Cleaner Air Pkg., w/o Trailer Tow Pkg., 4 Blade"

The part number appears to be 2265 034.

For the fan spacer, the bottom line in this section fits my car: “w/o Air Cond.”

EDIT #1: I may have spoken too soon. After searching around on the interwebs, it appears that this spacer is 1.060" thick. The factory service manual states that it’s supposed to be 1.72" thick. I’ll continue to look around.

EDIT #2: Okay, so I found a hardware kit on a Mopar parts website that shows the 1.720" thick spacer as part number 1674746. In the screenshot from the parts catalog, this part number is listed on line 3, which reads “w/A/Cond.”

Assuming the factory service manual is correct, I need a 1.72" spacer with part number of 1674746. If the parts catalog is correct, then I would need a 1.060" thick spacer with part number 1851959.

Thank you for confirming. Now I just need to figure out if that’s the correct one I need. The factory service manual states that I need the 1.72" spacer, which is part number 1674746. The factory parts book lists part number 1851959, which is 1.060" thick.

I have 1.60” 2120510 spacer and a nice 4 blade 18” fan, probably have a nice set of original screws as well.

I’ve been poking around on the internet, and it appears that my car should have come with a 22" radiator from the factory. Currently, it has a 26" radiator.

The previous owner stated that he installed a new radiator not too long ago. Is there any way to determine whether this car came with a 26" radiator from the factory, or if he upgraded to this size?

I know the car didn’t have A/C from the factory, but perhaps it had the CAP or tow package. Would either of those have come with a 26" radiator?

Take a picture of the fender tag and post it here. There's enough guys that can decode it and maybe tell you what it originally had.

The other thing to look at is the opening for the radiator. If it looks like it's been opened up to fit the 26" radiator, there's your clue. Some guys have bolted radiators in without cutting the opening, so if the present radiator looks like it doesn't fit, that's another clue.

I may have the right spacer and possibly a fan. If I do, they will be the cost of shipping, but I have to look.

I don’t have a picture yet, but I did run the VIN through two different decoders. Both indicate that the car was originally a 4-barrel car. It makes me wonder why someone would pull the intake manifold and carb setup to convert it to a 2-barrel. Weird.

On the topic of the radiator, I took a closer look today and can tell that someone added the 26" radiator. The core support opening is for a 22". When they went to the 26", they used the original mounting holes on the driver’s side and added two new ones on the passenger side.

Now that I have a 26" radiator, I’m wondering if I should track down the corresponding shroud so I can run a 7-blade fan and clutch setup. I go to car shows a lot, so the added cooling would be a big plus. What do you guys think?
