I got screwed today!!!

At this point, I would give the 70 2 door to someone for delivering me the 69. The 70 is rust free. It is complete front to rear. It would most likely run with some tweeking. If anyone out there want one of these rare 2 doors this may be a great opportunity for you. Just a thought. My 69 has no engine or trans and no steering column. All else is present.

I've had cars transported from both coasts using pros, amateurs, and brokers and had about every type of experience from great to nightmare. Sometimes I think it's just a flip of the coin. My best/smoothest experience was with Uship but maybe I just got lucky that time.

In case anyone wants to know how tight of a fit a 1958 Imperial is on a transport...

A google search will bring up a site where one can enter your shipping needs info and get up to ten quotes. I always eliminate the lowest and the highest quotes and work with the rest. Never pay anything but the brokers fee up front. Payment should be due upon delivery.
I also try to avoid relay deals. Be sure the driver & truck who picks up the vehicle is the ones who will deliver it.

Most go for the cheapest bid and thats where the trouble starts.

U-ship is not worth the effort for vehicle shipment. You may find the right person to haul parts but it seems theres to many pockets to pad along the way.
I once had a 57 chevy trunk lid delivered from philly to Alabama that arrived strapped to the roof of a Mercedes

I always use four corners Transport. in Washington, and I have never been stood up, or charged a higher rate than quoted. I was messed with one time, when I took some advice from a friend and used a different broker. I have one coming from Oakland, to Omaha for 814.00 with 1-5 days pickup time. I would recommend them to anyone.

That's damned generous of you John and if I was more financial I would seriously consider such an offer.

I have used Montway many times with no issues of significance yet. They are a broker, but screen out the shady operators quite well. Sometimes the quote they give you up front doesn't match any of their carriers' willingness to do the job, so they have on a few occasions asked me if I was willing to go up in the price a little to get someone to bite. But never very much. All their carriers have been exceptional so far, and the only hiccup sometimes is when they find out that a Chrysler New Yorker isn't the small car they were expecting even though I stated the correct year. But they have so far even carried through with their quote when this happens, but then I tip them some extra for the trouble of hauling the bigger car and the increased fuel cost if this happens. What goes around comes around is how I see it and I just want to be fair with the honest operators.

This is one I shipped. The Uship lowest bidder showed up with a 3/4 ton & homemade trailer. He picked the tractor up at the Drexel Ind Military base, and delivered it a little over 100 miles to me. How he did not get stopped, I don't know.

Use caution with brokers most have a phone a desk and a computer and a lot of contact numbers, oh and a line of b.s. they screw us on this side of the steering wheel also so uninformed consumers are easy pickings.

I would also say, anyone pay a shipper to get my Impy home to me, and you can have the 70. It is a killer deal for someone out there.

Verplanck NY 10596. If you are serious about it, you could schedule to ship cars back to the west coast to pay for your ride home. If not, just pay for the shipping and take the 70. Either way it can work out for both of us. Those 2 door models are very popular overseas.
