Other than the cop fleet and the modified '71 Newport, i have four C bodies left for sale: a '72 Monaco E85 Coupe, '67 Crown Coupe, '71 New Yorker E86 Coupe, and this '68 Fury II. I will put all of them here first when their time to find new homes comes up over next year or so.

The eponymous vehicle equivalent of a "Plain Jane" sedan, this Fury II has its original 318 that still needs leaded gas additives, hardly has any options, finished in love-it-or-hate-it QQ1-Bright Blue Metallic, no A/C, and what I believe to be 78K original miles (unprovable though).

I bought this car for the purpose of harvesting its sheet metal for '68 cop car sedan we did a few years back. Its a largely rust-free, one owner car that spent its whole life in the Northwest until I bought it a decade ago.

When I got it, it was just too nice to part out so I freshened it up a bit (a presentable but low-end enamel refinish, four barrel 500 cfm Edelbrock, and dual exhaust with turbo mufflers). Kept the original AM radio intact too.

I am selling it with its dog-dishes and body color steelies, but I drove it around with the polished J-body aluminum "10 spokes" and the old Polysteels shown. I know.."heresy" but at least I used "Mopar" wheels in the end.:icon_winkle:

It will be on Ebay in a couple of days and all info above plus some more stuff on it will be in the write-up. I will put a link in this thread when its up.

The car will have a reserve so sorry I wont be publishing the reserve price here on FCBO. I want anybody interested to have the same information for the auction to try to keep it fair.

But if any FCBO member has a serious interest in it, now or while auction is running, please send me a PM with your thoughts and I'll be happy to talk about anything you want. However, whatever we talk about, please just keep it between us...meaning please don't post our PM conversation to the thread.

That is a really sweet car, love the color and prefer the dog dishes like Dave does. This one needs a 440.

My personal thanks to anyone who replies with constructive feedback. :sSig_thanks:

Its a fun old cruiser. As far as I can tell, it was born with whitewalls and the dog dishes. What I believe to be the original spare is in the trunk..a three-stripe whitewall bias ply goodyear...its not useful anymore of course. It had whiteletter tires and dog-dishes when I bought it.

I experimented with different wheels/tire combos along the way. It actually looked pretty cool with polished aluminum 17's and fat, low-profile blackwall radials BUT for some reason it didnt handle very well (dunno why for sure but it seemed to wanna "wander" around the road with th 17's).

What it most has going for it is its old, mostly original, and still in pretty good shape. I aint dissin' my own car..its just it doesnt enjoy the popularity of some of its C-body cousins. So I really thought about putting a big, thumpin' R/B motor in it. I also have a 408 stroker sitting around looking for something to do.

End of day, I took the minimalist approach shown and only did stuff that could be easily "undone" by a new owner. I even kept the original induction system (air cleaner, ducting, heat riser, etc.), minus the two-barrel carb and intake (I traded to a guy for another part..easy to find used even today) that I will include with it.

An aside...somebody wrote me and said this color reminded them of the Mopar logo color. Never occured to me in all these years

With too much time on my hands today (getting ready for Father's Day trip), I learned the Mopar brand logo has a color definition.."PMS 293". "PMS" stands for the Pantone Matching System, which is a common way people use a standard reference to communicate how their media materials are to be printed/depicted.

Anyway, depending on the lighting/shadows, QQ1-Bright Blue Metallic sort of "resembles" standard color PMS 293. I stuck a Mopar logo on the garage door and you all kinda judge for yourselves.

I love the look of those 10 spoke rims. What did they come on...miradas and such?

The car looks great with the steelies and dog dish caps too though. Would be hard for me to pic one set over the other.

The "10 spokes" were introduced on the R-bodies and the Mirada in 1980. The Mirada is where they were used the most, and then they concluded their run on the M-body Fifth Avenues in the mid-1980's. Thanks

The thought of those wheels with these spinners plus the RWL tires makes my brain explode....

I thought "Oyeee" was a sign of approval..maybe not? :icon_winkle:.

Seriously I can see your point..busy wheel design, plus knockoffs, plus colored center, and then white letters on top of all that is a lot going on. I still like that combo tho on some of my cars, and the spinners suggested were cool-looking. thanks

OK. You understood what I was thinking.
Sort of like a Hispanic Transvestite Chinese-speaking Rabbi.

Fury is going back on Ebay again. "Deadbeat" bidder..guy doesnt call, doesnt write, doesnt pay. its a frickin' epidemic :rant5:

To quote a former late night cable guy, " I dont wanna get off on a rant here..." but Ebay has got to make it harder for people to win auctions and then disappear "in cyberspace"....like the "silent but deadlies" of campfire yore, it fades away but you know it stunk up the joint for awhile.

The consequences on reneging on high dollar items like cars, versus stuff under $100 for example, has got to be more severe. All that "binding contract" crap...when it gets tested its really kinda weak. Guys/Gals dont wanna pay ya, they aint gonna and not a lot can be done about that practically speaking. And sellers cant even leave negative feedback anymore when buyers screw stuff up.

Anyway, if the old Fury doesnt find a new home this summer, I might have to do what several of you fine folks thought would be cool ... stick a thumpin' R/B, and a shorter-ratio Sure-Grip I salvaged from a police car, in it this winter and work on all the little things to make it a bit nicer. I'll keep the dog dishes but use some bigger, blackwall tires around wider wheels and see how see runs.

Or I might chicken out again and leave the ole, venerable 318 in it..surprisingly spry for the lower end of the Mopar cubic inch range and better yet original to the car.
