Friday tunes..

George Fenneman was the guy on the left in this picture ... . He was Groucho's side kick in the popular 50's game show 'You bet your life'. When contestants failed to answer any questions correctly Groucho would usually toss them a softball question like "for 100 hundred dollars who's buried in Grants tomb?" so they wouldn't go home empty handed

Zevon? One of my fave. And one of the only songs I know with the words bit beaver in it. We used to listen to it all the time before we went out on the rink.

I first heard this in a WWII German bunker in Croatia that the Norwegian UN contingent had converted into their bar

It became an anthem there during my time at Camp Pleso.. played at max volume after plenty of Ringnes had flowed every night

I always liked that song by Dusty Springfield even though I was just a little kid. "Black Velvet", a fantastic song from Alannah Myles. Another favorite of mine is "Living On A Memory" from her second album Rockinghorse.

Here's a version of this classic that doesn't get played very often. I used to be able to get an FM station from North Dakota that did play it quite often. I like this version and the version from Jimmy Hendrix too, of course.
