Here's what you get when you try to photo the October 2014 "Blood Moon" eclipse with a Samsung phone.
Anyway, 5am-ish October 8, 2014 standing on my front porch in my skivvies (thankfully it was dark). Sky was perfectly clear too, very little light pollution but this was best I could do.
Tried it with my fancy 20 megapixel digital Canon Powershot (which I apparently don't know how to use in low light, half asleep) and didn't get it at all.
First pic is complete shot of the night sky, about 45 degrees above the horizon, looking due West, Moon with arrow pointed at it. Second pic is blowup of the first shot, showing 3/4 eclipse of Blood Moon (from left to right).
Orange hue could be lots of things. picture looks to have "true color" so I'd guess atmospherics/moon angle gave you the oranges (kinda like what happens in Fall ... but I guess it can happen any season if my "supposition" is correct)
howdy folks. thanks again for pushing this thread along with some really cool stuff.
Anybody else have a few night shots of celestial sights or man-made things? maybe some black and white photos (stock internet example below..NOT mine) of anything too..they can also be quite stunning.
now 100 posts in, some cars and trucks have popped up.. that's cool, again I wasn't trying to define what's "cool" to anyone. but the photos themselves were still the "stars" and the vehicles an integral part of the whole cool scene.
let the "artistry" and "inspiration" in whatever "cool" pic anyone posts to the thread continue...
:sSig_thanks:
Well.... in 1696 the Royal Elector had build the Park and the "Path" you see is a big mainstreet which was designed and implemented into the park and leads directly to that "castle" you see further down. Where i am standing is called the Octogon with a huge Statue of Hercules on top of it. He ..back then.. was known as the protector of the city, as a symbol, I guess. Google "wilhelmshoeher berkpark kassel" there is tons of more pics, the park is huge and amazing and has lots of cool stuff. ccasion14:

No B&W shots in my gallery, and no great moon shots (like Dave posted), but I found a kind of nice pic of the moon and Jupiter above Finnish country side, taken a few years ago nearby were I live. Sorry about the quality (or lack of it!)

No........stooopppp.... Its not dangerous. You can shoot it from miles away. Ive tried with poor results but never in an open field next to a lone tree
