Manual window 300 Hurst

And I'm just trying to answer questionz to the best of my knowledge and ability Patrick. Little willie iz safe and unharmed and this whole conversation iz becoming ah chuckle trust me. They're are however ah couple 1,000 folkz not even pumping air anymore and another couple 1,000 including me that will never accept that 300 convertibe with its black interior and 426 engine az anything but what it iz which iz a made up car. You and I have a difference of opinion ergo my reference to blondz and brunettez. In closing I'll thro' another bit of truth out there. Did jah know that the 1st three Hurst's were produced and sent out to the dealerz and sold with crank up door windowz and the other 482+1 got power windowz 'cuz driver and passenger were both scrappin' their knucklz on the leather seats upin' or downin' the door glass? I can't make this stuff up,lol. Happy Trailz, Jer

My information says the first two cars had roll up windows.

I saw one of them at McClouds Auction 1985 in Seattle, Washington.

By the way, the Hemi Hurst Convertible is a Chrysler dealer built car....it is that simple of an explanation, there really is no need for argument.

I''ll beat a dead horse and take it one step farther and say a dealer converted a 300 to look like a Hemi Hurst convertible had there been one.

Hell when I'm done buying all my decals I am gonna have a Hurst / HEMI / RT SPORT FURY ,,:3gears:

And I'm sorry to have to tell you that the information you have iz some what short on accuracy because at the same time az that auction in 1985 waz taking place and up until just ah few yearz ago the other two crank window Hurst's were sitting side by side in a good friendz garage in Grass Lake Michigan. And if my friend had not been late to that auction party in 1985 that third crank window Hurst would have been residing with the other two in the same garage. If you Are a 300 int.inc. Club member you already know who to contact for verification of the correct count on those crank window Hurst's. If not I respectfully suggest that you apply for membership so you will then know who to contact for the absolute accurate facts. Her initials are G.M. and she haz been the record keeper of all thingz 300 since the club waz founded in the early '70s, Jer

Has the VIN of the third crank window Hurst been reported to the registry now ?
I have some older papers that showed the two cars that are or used to be in the same Hands by that time.

Just as manual shift cars. :eusa_think:

.... To me, a dealer-installed option IS factory, whether it be a heater, radio, or a Hemi. The 300 Hurst ragtop with the Hemi is a dealer-modified Chrysler 300 Hurst ragtop. For that matter, is ANY sunroof-equipped car "factory"??? They were all done by ASC, and off the Chrysler assembly line.

Patrick, the difference is a dealer installed heater or radio would be a Chrysler authorized modification as the dealer is installing a piece of equipment that the factory could have installed but didn't. The dealer is acting in lieu of the factory. The dealer is not installing any equipment that would affect warranty or liability issues.

I doubt that Chrysler would have authorized a dealer installed engine that was not offered by Chrysler.

Sunroof cars and outside modifications (Superbirds, Hursts and other package cars) were done by third party contractors authorized to make the modifications under the oversight of Chrysler. Chrysler had to approve the specs and quality of work to protect their interests.

Possession is 9/10s of the law. Once that car rolls off the transport and the dealer takes possession, then Chrysler relinquishes ownership and control of the car. There is little to nothing Chrysler can do about dealer performed modifications such as an engine swap. Yet, once Chrysler relinquishes control, they release themselves of any liability for warranty work or legal liability. Those are now in the hands of the dealer or car owner.

Factory: as engineered and designed, offered for sale, agreed to produce, constructed by, billed, liability/warranty accepted by company and delivered to third party by Chrysler. After delivery, modifications may be 'factory authorized' such as installations of a heater or radio, but it's hard to call any unauthorized modifications (engine not offered by Chrysler in that make or model) by a third party 'factory'.

Thanks. Duly Noted.

What information can you shed on Steve's Hurst Convert? We all know the story and Steve's ownership history.

Then fender tag has been questioned by some very knowledgeable MoPar restorers as a possible reproduction, putting the originality of the car in doubt.

So far, the seller has not produced a Broadcast sheet, if there ever was one, and that's very important.

There very well may not be a broadcast sheet available on that convertible. I'm reasonably sure the club has the vin# on record and who knowz about the build tag. Gimme ah couple dayz to contact the G.M. person I mentioned earlier and I'll get back with you and we'll go from there. Az far az what information I can shed on the convertible we all refer to az the Linda Vaughn Hurst? Quite frankly not too much. I communicated with Steve a few timez in the mid '80s trying to buy the car as a twin Vert to my Hurst. He wasn't at all interested in selling at that time. We met I think in either '87 or '88 at the Mopar Nats. at the track quite by accident when I drove into the show field with my Hurst and I waz looking at hiz Linda Vaughn Hurst. We did ah double take on each other and after I parked we shook handz and had a good few hourz of bench racing(and he still wasn't interested in selling) lol Later that afternoon he put the top up and headed south and home never to be seen by me or very few otherz that I'm aware of. I never figured him to be antisocial or secretive, just a quiet and private kinda guy! Stand by and I'll get back, Jer

Looks like they took a 300 convertible and slapped a sticker on it so L V could stand next to it. The originals were too far away or sold by then

Sorry, I forgot that once at Medicare age that is all we have.

Well, most of us anyway...

Dig them crazy psychedelic pants. Jeez was everyone high back then or what.
