I am offering up this EV2 Hemi Orange 300 convertible for sale.

I bought it mostly to save it from oblivion about 5 years ago, even though I am not so much of a convertible guy. I have never seen another one, nor am I aware of any other one in existence either. But this is a factory EV2 coded car as seen from the fender tag. I was able to get a good bit of the history and was able to track down at least the second and third owners and have a few photos from the second owner as well. The history is that this car was purchased by a Chrysler Dealership owner for his wife and when the second eventual owner saw it in the service department one day, he asked if he could buy it and the dealer sold it to him. He took excellent care of the car. And the third owner seemed to do it right as well, but after that, someone did not take care of it and it ended up stored in a field in Virginia for some time (I believe it was taken off the road in 1994).

This car was advertised as needing restoration when I bought it but the seller did not disclose the level of underbody rust on the car, which is significant. The outer panels on the car are actually mostly rust free and much of the paint, except for the primer spots, is original, and in using my coating thickness meter, there is no bondo on the car except for a little in the driver side quarter where there were some dents and a poor effort to repair one around the rear wheel opening. But the underside shows it needs a new stub frame, the rear leaf spring front hanger is pretty rusted and the rear floor pan and the trunk pan also need rust repair. I have shown some photos of the underside.

This is a really loaded car with virtually every option you could get including power vent windows, 8 track stereo radio, power windows, seat and much more. It has the standard 440, but it is stuck. The car is pretty complete, and I have the original door/side interior panels in storage as well.

I would like to see this one saved but I am not going to be the one doing it because I have too many other projects ahead of it and I am getting up in age now (68) so I have to thin the herd out a bit. I also have a 1970 Chrysler 300 convertible that was an original 440HP car that I could also sell with this car to be used for parts, as it is a California pretty rust free car that would be ideal for use with this one (it is mostly a rolling shell with the driveline gone when I got it). Let me know if any of you has any interest in buying it. I can send you more photos if you are seriously interested.
Steve

Given their relationship I am certain Carsten has seen this car...Hes not a fan of Orange but can tolerate this shade. Hes not a convertible guy. He also likes unrestored original, survivor/driver type cars. I imagine hes already passed....

How am I doing so far?

Quite well actually!

Neat car! I hope it gets the restoration it deserves.

I would have never guessed such a car even existed. What a cool car. Hopefully somebody gets it redone. What a beauty it would be. In your research did you come across any back in the day pics of it?

Excellent question! Yes, attached are photos taken back in the day when the car was only a year or two old (1971 or 1972). It was mint then and used by this family. I would really like to see someone restore it back to its former glory. I had no idea that one of these was ever made either until I happend upon a craigslist ad about 5 years ago. Then I knew I had to save it. If someone doesn't step up to the plate here with a reasonable offer (I don't need to get rich like Dan :poke:, as I just want it saved), I will be forced to restore it myself and have to live another year longer!

Here also is a little brighter photo of the car that I found.........................................
(I realize the center caps aren't correct BTW!)

Now that was the wrong statement Steve.
No one could do it better than you.
So you will have to make an additional year.

I could take off a another blue car from you to save you time.:D

Honestly: I think someone can get a rare and special car for less than 5k$. And a parts car with the sheetmetal needed is available, too.

@dave: you know me quiet well:steering:

First off, I would love to have this car! I love convertibles as well as strangely optioned cars. In this case, the color sets it off! As for the rust this car has, it's kind of funny to me. See, I'm from New England. When I read about the rust it has, I'm thinking the worst. When I looked at the pictures, I'm thinking, "That's minor rust around here!". :) Even the parts car makes me drool! Wish I could get to CA and pick these up!

Good luck with a sale!

I've always said rust is subjective. Regardless of the amount of rust a car has, the location of people determine how much rust it actually has it is almost open to interpretation

Well Steve if Carsten takes another blue car off your hands and I take a Black one think how much more time and money you'll have to do this orange one! :poke::poke:

Thanks for sharing, awesome car. It would be quite the project to take on but I am sure it would be very rewarding when you finished it up. Best of luck with which path you choose, restoring or selling. Either way feel free to stick around!
