hi all,

ive recently had my headliner replaced, however i didnt all the trim available when i left the car with the auto trimmer.

the auto trimmer has attached all the trim apart from the chrome trim that sits around the rear window (cpillar/roof). im not sure what clips i need as the car never had this trim attached when i bought it.

i inspected the front window trim and the auto trimmer has attached the clips under the headliner material. they feel rectangle in shape and obviously allow for the screw to be inserted in on the other side. i can feel where there is a hole for the clip to be inserted and for the trim retaining screw to go into.

can anyone help me out with what sort of clip i need and any ideas? my idea is to just apply the clips over the headliner material. this will weaken the material but i dont think i could peel the material back in all the attachment places and slide them on as its had its adhesive applied.

ive attached some pictures of the area im talking about. i hope this explains it a bit better.

thanks

I'm parting out a 68 Fury. If you haven't found any in a few days send me a PM. it will be saturday before I can get out there. I took the headliner out & sold the bows & interior trim around the back window. May or may not still have the clips

Thanks, will do.

Even if you can take a few pictures so i know exactly what im chasing.

thanks for the pics. i cant make out the 2nd picture but the other 2 pics i dont need.

not sure exactly what i need, thats the problem. i already have the headliner attached, i just need the clips that allow for the chrome trim to be secured around the rear window/windscreen.

im probably not explaining it too well either, haha!

thanks again for your effort, much appreciated

I sold the trim around the inside of the rear window. Can't remember if it was clip or screws that held it in. Probably both

My input may be helpful or more confusing. It applies to a '67 4DSD.

The trim around the rear window screws directly to the framework of the car through access holes in the tack strips. I'm guessing that the hole you feel is the access hole in the tack strip.

I'm not familiar with where/how the windlace applies to a '66 2dr, but on my car the clips for the windlace are under the tack strips. So the windlace had to be installed first. On '67 2drs the windlace is only used at the door jamb under the interior quarter trim.

Lots of pics here:

Again, this is a '67 4DSD, so it may not apply.

I can post more pics if needed, just haven't had time to figure out resizing with the new format.

Hope the input helps.

John

thanks for the reply. ill see if i can screw the trim directly onto the frame work. as you mentioned, i can feel the hole through the tackstrip and i assumed a clip is supposed to be attached to the tackstrip to allow for the screw to bind into. maybe im wrong and its directly into the framework. the front trim around the front window feel like theres a recetangle clip inserted, but ill have a look this weekend and see if i can screw into the frame.
