Pete Hamilton get a fuel only pit stop in his Petty Superbird. This must have been in the qualifying race at Daytona because the grandstands are about empty. Those races are held on Thursday

Early in the 69 season during the beginning of the Aero Wars the Ford Taladega Torino was better than the blunt nose Charger 500 package. As seen in this pic as a bevy of Torinos , Cale Yarborough, Lee Roy Yarborough, Richard Petty in a Torino, David Pearson & Donnie Allison leading the Dodge of Charlie Glotzbach. The folks at Dodge realized this & developed the Daytona wing car a few months later & that ended Fords dominance & they started chasing the Dodges
