Camping on Clay Street @ Carlisle

The kids and I will be camping off on Clay street, right outside of Gate 1. The last time I camped at Carlisle in a tent you still camped inside of the fairgrounds.

Has anyone camped at Clay St? What is it like? Do they have any security patrolling it?

When I called to check on it they said that the show had expanded and there isn't room.

Theres a nice campground in Carlisle but you would need to drive to the show each day so its not quite as convenient. A buddy camped here with his tent last year at the Ford show.

Another nice one is in Mt Holly, just a few miles away from Carlisle on RT 34.

I already paid the $35 bucks to camp online before I realized it was outside of the fairgrounds.

A vendor space for the entire weekend is $90.00. Includes two passes. You could camp on it.

This is a thought for the future. It cost me $84.50 to register the car and camp. I'm just curious what I'm getting into.
