2016 Carlisle Car Photo's

just checked the pics of the german Mopar Nats I took last year:
there were 352 classic Mopars in total
86 of them were full size
37 of them were Fuselage cars

Carsten

Which made Carlisle 86 short....

Send 'em back! I'll offer 2 VW bugs and 1 Mercedes or 1 "Beemer" and a VW micro bus painted in Dead Head colors for each.

;)

I would say that most shows here have a model year cutoff date, but a national show like Carlisle brings in people from long distances and some people don't want to, or can't, drive their 40+ year old car those kind of distances. Plus Carlisle has the room for everybody, so why not ? If you don't want to look at the newer cars there is more than enough old iron to look at.

I notice very few license plates west of Indiana. That would be one heck of a drive for me.

This show is on my bucket list to go one more time. Thanks for posting all the pics so I could attend vicariously. This 67 Monaco really caught my attention. Does it look as good close up as in the pic? What does the engine call out say behind front left wheel?

I didn't check that car out this year, but in 2013 it looked like a decent driver, but it was showing quite a bit of wear. The engine call-out says "383 Four Barrel". One of the really cool things about that car is that it's a 4-speed.

You can not have a Mopar event and exclude the new stuff, that's absurd.

it is not absurd Dave.
It is simply a clear line.
Mopar Nats are open to all Mopars buillt till 1979 in germany

If you don't want to drive your old Mopar a long distance: you can still come in as a visitor.

But no modern junk is on the carshow field

Carsten

that sucks in a major way.

We have a decent solution overhere:
On most european Mopar shows as well as the best american car events the newer american cars are simply forbidden. You can not enter the show with it. I am happy about it. So our guys who have old&new cars have to take the old car if they want to be "really" in the show. Which they usually do

Carsten
Keep in mind that I don't really like the newer cars, but I accept them.

We have plenty of shows that don't allow the new cars. For the most part, that is done where there is no more room and allowing new cars would displace the older cars. The mistake of not allowing newer cars or having "attitude" towards them was made 30 years ago by the previous generation of car show attendees. Do you see many 30/40/50's car at shows anymore? Other than street rods I mean.

So rather than cut their nose off to spite their face, Carlisle has seen the numbers and know that the metric Challenger owner spends as much or more money once they are in the gates.

To me it's really simple... Don't go look at the new cars and don't bother going into the vendor tents that are catering to them. Carlisle is a big show with room for everybody.

IMHO, that type of cutoff for a show like this would be absurd... We like to include all our friends in the Mopar world. It isn't just about the cars you know....

John of course car shows are about friendship and the people you meet.
But if your friends don't come with an old mopar: they can park their Hellcat Challenger, Charger or whatever outside.

If you agree to let modern cars in you reduce the amount of old cars attending.

Those shows who have a cut off date for cars don't do the show for the money. They do it for the people with old cars. BTW: some things are different here than in the US once in a while. Good shows have a free entrance for those who come with a classic car. The visitors without classic car have to pay to cover the costs.

You're wrong on this one
There is no "right way" or "wrong way" to do a car show. It's up to the organizers of the show to decide what their show will be. After twenty years, there are still some businesses on Woodward that would like to see the cruise go away. This is because their business doesn't benefit from the cruise activity and may actually lose money during that period. I mention this only to say that: you can't please everyone.

LOL... We ARE past that... :thankyou:

And I'm ok with sucking at picture taking... I even considered just giving the camera to live4theking's kids so at least someone would have fun with pics... I apparently am much better in the junkyard... but my ADD kicks in there too.

My kids would have enjoyed playing with your camera. Olivia actually does pretty good with one.

Aaron actually wanted to look at every Challenger, old or new. So we have to do something to keep the young ones interested otherwise their won't be a car hobby in 20 years.

The metric stuff was parked on the top of the hill as usual at Carlisle.....

Who cares......I'm not climbing up the hill to look at them.

More revenue for the event and vendors.

Perfect. When I saw pics of that hill I thought the same thing !!

Not all, most of the New Challengers, Chargers, 300s and Magnums start at the car corral and go half way up the hill and take up about four rows back to back..... thats a lot of new stuff.

And as much as I dont want them at a show Carlisle wouldnt be the same without them. The fact that the show has evolved with the " new thing" is why it is the best Chrysler show on the planet. Anybody thats been there 20 years or more remembers the Neon and PT cruiser frenzy. Now, not all too many there .
