Nice color combo on a nice car!

I went with the Chrysler dealer in 1968 to the Detroit Auto Show. I took readily to the new 'fuselage shape' and ordered this two door hardtop (no B-Pillar) in Bahama Blue Metallic. Black leather interior was not an option, so it is black vinyl. It spent a couple years in Michigan, and thus has some rust on the rear quarters. It has the 4bbl 440 cu in engine coupled with the 727 automatic transmission. It is in storage, but is licensed and insured so I can take it out any time, with advanced notice.

Damn, wish I were anywhere near Nebraska! I nicked a few bits off of one like this (tho a 70) for my old Monaco... Admittedly, I spent work brakes sitting behind the wheel wishing I could have saved the whole car.

Rusted rear quarters (trunk floor, trunk extensions?), vinyl roof around rear window dont look solid. No pictures of interior, engine bay or trunk.
I would say with that info, way too overpriced. closer 3-4k range.
Even with turning lights and rh mirror.

Eek, yea, I didn't zoom in on that side shot... Looks like one of those "paint over the rust" jobs that always solves the rust problem so efficiently.

I actually thought this car was somewhat special given the colors and the fact that it has virtually every option available in 1969, including a 2.76 sure grip rear end (not that it is particularly useful with that ratio, but unusual)!

But when I asked for photos of the underneath of the car, all interest ceased. It is one of the most rusted under bodies I have seen. The sub frame is junk and there is plenty of rust else where under there that you really would not expect given how relatively nice the rest of the exterior is - but that rust in the quarter is only the beginning. What a shame, as it will probably end up being a parts car. But he was honest and didn't hide anything to his credit. He really wanted someone to restore it completely given its history, but it will take a very hearty guy to do it.

Could be the angle of the pics taken, I wonder if it has been hit in the front at one time. On the pass side there is a large gap between the headlight doors and turn signal area and the drivers side it is much tighter. And the hood gaps seem to be wider from one side to the other

Could be a twisted stub, they are prone to bending it seems after a hit. I have a solid rust free stub with a kink in it, such a shame.

Since I have received several requests for more photos, I will just post what I did receive that you haven't seen already. Much of the repair of this underbody will involve a new stubframe, but there is indication of rust in the sill areas and the rear quarters too, and above the wheel lip at least on one side, and usually there is much more that we can not see. But this car might still be saveable to someone with the skills and/or money to do it right. The car is so unique in the colors and virtually all the options, it begs for someone to save it IMO. It also has a lot of provenance since the seller is the original owner, and I have also shown some of those including the window monroney sticker and other items. This will take more than two posts due to the number of photos in each post limitation and my apologies for not organizing them better due to time constraints right now.

Well someone is one good donor car away from having a very nice car oh ya that and a boatfull of time and money but from some of the skills on display here it is a doable project for some of you. I would tackle it with the right donor car and a place to do the work. I need Gary's house....and that boatfull of money and time. But that all said I agree it is worth saving IMHO

thanks for the pics.
Job is work but it can be saved.
The rust above the upper wheel lip drivers side disturbs me most as it will require paint work above the lower quarters

The sub frame might be the majority of the rust. Looking at the rear inner areas with some of the chassis rail showing appears to be solid, if those rear rails are in fact good, it would be less work than my GT to fix.

I don't know what the price started at, but is $3900 as of a few minutes ago.

I didn't notice any rust bubbles under the vinyl top, if the glass/roof is sealed that car's worthwhile for sure.

If the extent of the subframe rust is what is shown, IMO you could cut those rear subframe ears off, splice some 12-ga formed angles in place, and weld the ears back on. Or swap the subframe with a susp rebuild at the same time. I see no major concerns anywhere in the rear-frame pictures he showed. If I was interested I'd haggle him down to $3000-3500 due to rust and have a good car to drive home.

But this one needs an allover paintjob anyway? Top surfaces are all faded.

there are a few strangers who like old original paint.
It is better to have original paint with patina than a fresh paint IMHO
