The People Have Spoken...

I am more troubled by Bannon. At least the tea party has no use for Priebus. Bannon will continue to promote division among us based on his news past.

Brexit and this election has demonstrated that voters are starting to wise up and no longer accept the status quo but we need to to continue to be vigilant that we don't head down the road to despotism. The good news is we have more checks and balances than did the Wiemar Republic. Also no internet then. My real worry is the judiciary becoming unbalanced. Trump has promoted the integrity of the constitution but without balance on the Supreme Court things could go south in a hurry. The corporate establishment has been sly in invoking investor state court systems in trade agreements effectively outside national court systems that override all national courts. Trump specifically identified this problem with NAFTA and the proposed TPP. The average citizen has to avoid complacency because we can't rely on our elected representatives to safeguard our interests in favour of those of the corporate elite who contribute to their campaigns now without sanction.

Very much agree - how else could Citizens United get passed so the rich could flood our elections with their candidates' propaganda and monied super pacs (corporations are people of course!). And that was with a more balanced court than what we will see under this next administration. I would think Trump would want the court tilted fully toward his ideals, not balance. What kind of despot would that be?

I have my doubts about the public being vigilant about much more than showing their restaurant meals on Facebook and getting a flurry of "likes" however.

i don't usually discuss politics, but i'll put in my two cents.
for me it boils down like this:
trump's campaign manager is an absolute genius.
the best played chess game ever. the game started before he even announced he would be running. i didn't realize (like 99% of the population) what was going on until the end.
i think (hope) that this shows the country how biased (crooked) the media is. i watched on nbc.
as trump picked up more and more states, the look on lester holts face (anger) told the story. when tom brokaw said the country has decided they want change, they were willing to pull the pin on a hand grenade and roll it across the country, that cemented it.
with hillary we knew what to expect. more of the same. 0% chance of improvement. with trump, we have a 50/50 chance.
no matter what happens, trump has changed this country in a positive way forever. everything from perception to politics will never be the same. the only thing i fear is that he will rely on his established political advisers too much and loose momentum.
i'm happy because he has already given this country something it hasn't had since reagan,
HOPE !!!

He needs political people in there doesnt he? If not theyll all walk the halls aimlessly

Exactly which is also why he shouldn't have said he would shake things up and drain the swamp of D.C. Now it might end up looking like he will drain the swamp of D.C. while saving the crocs.

You and I both. The hero of the alt-right is now going to be Senior Advisor to the President. A man whose web site has promoted nationalism with a certain flavor. A man who has a problem with Jews. The man who told Trump to paint Hillary as being bought and paid for by the media, financial and banker types. Implying that the bankers were Jews. Of all the banker and financial types I know they are all Republican and none are Jewish. In my book Bannon is a certified nut case so I am sure the behind the door antics in the new West Wing will warrant a tell all book one day.

I'm sure you know Madame Le Pen. In an interview today she applauded both Brexit and Trump anticipating her possibly ascending to Prime Minister. She called this the beginning of a New World Order. I don't know about you but I don't like the sound of a New World Order at all. Coming from Europe makes it even worse because every time that has come up in the past things have gone to hell in a hand basket over there.

I'd like to know where all the Hillary voters came from. I consider myself middle class I'm 50 years old and white. I can honestly say I've met one person that wanted Hillary to win and only saw two pro Hillary signs on a lawn.
I've come across thousands of people over the last year. I've seen thousands of pro Trump shirts, banners, signs, stickers, pins, hats. I've seen many anti Hillary items of the same.
I deal with foreigners they wanted Trump to win ( it benefits those who are here). I've dealt with big shots ( deep pocket ) who all wanted Trump to win. .....puzzling to see how it was so close

Marine will never accept a first minister place. She never accepted to work with other party because they always insulted here and her supporters. And to be accurate, other politics never asked here and always threated this right side like plague.
The NWO is already here, strated with Putin, now Trump, brexit, Orban, and we never know tomorrow Le Pen.

Great....... Now we have a inexperienced, narcissistic, serial liar and racist for president, instead of just a liar. Who would have thought.....? I hope no one here thinks their one of the 1% who will benefit.

I'm scared now and am looking for a hole to crawl into
.

I asked this question elsewhere and some had a hard time with it after saying the majority spoke. Trump received 47.5% of the total vote. That means 52.5% voted for a non-Trump candidate. So how does 47.5% represent a majority of America because in my basic math skills it doesn't. I see the people split down the middle. The Electoral College is an anachronism from years past where the landed elite of 1796 didn't think the populace was capable of decision making on their own.

Personally I have despised Trump since the late 70's. That hasn't changed as of today. Would love to say I hope he does well but can't quite bring myself to say that. I have a deep hatred for the man going way back as I dislike fakes. Consequently I hope he fails as all fakes deserve to. As I teach my son you make a choice and you live with the consequences good or bad. Live and learn.

Remember this is a man who takes pride in that he doesn't read. Which loyalist is going to summarize National Security briefings for him and open that can of worms? Loyalists, yes men, making policy because the boss can't be bothered to read things. What a disaster that can be as businessmen can be just as corrupt as politicians with personal agendas.

Since he is also the man who has made racist, sexist, hateful, intolerant comments about others he is now going to be the face of America to all the world. He represents us when among other countries as to who we are. He is supposed to represent what is good about America and Americans. Well I am not that and he in no way can ever represent me in any shape, manner, or form.

The world depends on America in many, many ways to be the shiny light is some form. Yet, today, we have despots pointing to America and say see it doesn't work. That cannot be allowed as this is 2016 not 1926 and some country has to lead by a strong example of what is right and fair. I know if I were one of four world leaders right now I would be planning my possible moves next year to take advantage of Trump's well known shortcomings. It's going to be a rocky four years.

One up and coming despot is Duterte in the Philippines who has seen over 3,000 Filipinos killed in extra-judicial killings, so far, because they were considered "suspected" drug dealers. No trials or even charges brought. He is upset at Obama for bringing up those killings as being wrong. His excuse is that he is doing what needs to be done. Duterte has congratulated Trump and believes Trump will understand those killings and instead work with him rather than lecture him on human rights. He believes Trump will look the other way. Then both are real quality human beings.

We need to do better than what we have done this year. As long as the country lurches from right to left and then back again nothing will ever get solved. Only the middle ground can solve major problems. Yet the middle has been obliterated on both sides making me an orphan. Media has divided the country into two opposing camps that can't see past each other. Both sides have been brainwashed enough to literally not consider the other side as people, as fellow Americans. That may be Ok for Packer fans vs. Bear fans but the U.S. is not a sports team.
On one side you have Donald Trump who is a racist and misogynist. On the other side you have Hillary Clinton who is a warmonger and partakes in occult blood drinking rituals.

If those are two legit comparisons then Trump has proven his side but Clinton not hers. Besides don't forget Trump made the off hand comment about why have nuclear weapons if you are not going to use them. Joke or not that makes an impression all over the world. There was a opinion piece in Germany about the country needing to have their own nuclear weapons after that. Loose talk has consequences. Now what if an opinion piece showed up saying Japan should go nuclear? Take a guess what happens there overnight.

Well 62, white and a professional. Reason? Foreign policy. Trump thinks he can make a deal with Putin. That would be no different than making a deal with Stalin. Putin doesn't make deals he has his interests first and foremost. Then pulling away some from Asia. Calling China a monetary manipulator. Maybe true but insulting China publicly is not a smart thing to do. Funny, when you consider his half trillion dollar infrastructure dream will require borrowing money. Guess who has those big bucks to buy securities? I do not want to see us get squeezed between Russia, dominating Eastern Europe and Baltics again, and then China on the other side dominating Asia.

People i saw that Were Voting for Hillary, Were just doing it so Trump would not Win. There were Trump signs everywhere in my Area. The only people i saw that Were enthusiastic For Hillary were pseduo, Hollywood Liberals. Or people Doing it because "She's a Women" As if it were Some kind of Novelty. Our Culture Now is So obsessed with Vanity and Fashion. I think it would be great to Have a Female President, the Male ego is so strong in this Country. But One that is not a Corporatist Shill. And a Lying War Hawk. Our Society is so Politically Correct that if You Dare Criticize Her, Then you are labeled a Sexist, Misogynist.

Franklin Roosevelt and Joseph Stalin were making deals. Roosevelt even went as far as to refer to Stalin as "my dear Uncle Joe". I don't necessarily see improving relations with Russia a bad thing. If Trump could manage to get us out of all these middle east conflicts, Syria in particular, that Hillary was instrumental in getting us into would be a good thing. We need to back off and let the Russians use their resources in fighting Isis in Syria. Whether or not Trump keeps his promises still remains to bee seen. At this point I am extremely skeptical of what this new administration is going to bring. Politicians are notorious for making promises just to get elected and not following up on them.
