whats the best way to polish rear lenses on a 70??

Headlamp polisher.
Seriously.
I've had good luck with various grades of wet'n dry sand paper. Heavy scratches smooth out with about 320 grit, then I continue with 400, 600, 800 and 1,000 or 1,200. The final polish sand buffing is done with rotten stone in water or light oil. I haven't done a rear lense since I managed to buy a NOS pair of light assemblies, but I did do the clear plastic face of the speedometer. The end result was spectacular.
I don't know if commando's suggestion would work. The headlight lenses are a very hard acrylic and the cleaner/polish maybe to aggressive for use on the softer plastic used in the taillight.

I'd start with the softest step first. I had very good results simply with a non abrasive paint wax/polish, never needed anything more aggressive up till now.

k....still pluggin along...car hasn't fallen on me yet and haven't frozen ...bumpers been cleaned up and ready to put back on....getting ready for panels on lower rear quarters ready to accept skins this week...curiosity got the better of me and tackled in panels in front of rear tires...drivers is the worst but both sides will need to be delt with,,,can see the previous attempt to fix it......will make inner panels first then cut off outer skin after there done as their still good enough to follow for templates and is better than guessing...also hit up the interior of that panel with shop vac then blasted crap outa the inside with metal blast to stop the rust...will coat before l seal it up...

Actully found myself useING a brick and brickhammer yesterday to form one of the folds when l couldn't quite get the fold l was after.........bloody shoemakers

hopeing to be done with all the rust by the weekend...gona be stoked it's all outa there and won't have to deal with it again in my lifetime.....

think lm getting the jist of when the upstairs neighbors out for work so have a 5 hr window or so...nobodys complained yet and if l get all this rust delt with before someone complains am laughin as its the worst of it and last of it...
got a lot done today and figure another solid 8 hrs and am done with the rust,,,day and a half to finish up re body filler ect...should go pretty good as l spent alota time fitting those panels so l don't need alotta fill.
Gas tanks also in and Graham has graciously offered to drop it off...dragging my butt outa the pit is tough....on a mission....
anyway pics...weldings not pretty but it grinds down real well and panels are dam solid..
and wasn't jokeing about the brick...what ever it takes and whatevers handy...

FYI, I sent off my original 70 hood pad off to Jim at DMT today so he can copy and get some correct stamped pads made for our cars. I'll keep you posted.
