Hi folks. I crashed my 66 Polara 318, "El Cacharro". Was taking my son to school in stop and go traffic and a guy in the next lane was trying to get my attention. Nothing out of the ordinary, people always want to chat about the car. I couldn't hear what the guy was saying and did a doubletake. I ended up rear-ending the guy in front of me. Bumper is bent beyond repair. Having trouble locating one.

Anyone have one? Anyone have suggestions? What other C Body bumpers could work?

I'm afraid you're limited to 66 Polara or Monaco. Keep the faith though, I needed a bumper for my 67 though I wasn't looking all that hard .. kinda low on the list .. and one came up pretty quickly.

Everyone ok?

My son, who is on the autism spectrum, was a little shaken up. He didn't want to wait around for the cops, but it was a teachable moment. He was fine shortly afterwards. Thanks for asking.

Good to hear. That can be tough on any kid let alone those on the spectrum. Now we just gotta get El Cacharro straightened out n we're good to go!

Just your bumper? No other sheetmetal/trim? I ask because a bumper beyond repair would usually indicate some other problems. You'd be amazed what a good chrome shop can fix.

I'm sure Murray Park probably has one.

I have a bumper from a 66 Polara, but shipping would be pricey. I'll have another (better one) in a month.

Glad you and your son are OK. I would try Murray Park for the bumper, or Desert Valley Auto Parts in Phoenix AZ, (but D.V.A.P. is pricey). Probably a good bet to get the mounting brackets also.

Glad you're both okay.

If you can get it completely on a long pallet you could ship it through Fastenals third party logistics. It's slow, but I'm told you can ship most anything from sea to sea for about $150.

If the OP wants to, I'm game. Just looked up their website and it says there is a store the next town over.

Tri city may have a core. They could have it plated in time to bring to Carlisle. Call them.
I'm going to a friends place tomorrow and will check his extensive stash.

What year is this....?

I have purchased parts from Wild Cat Auto Wrecking. Very nice to deal with, very good parts. They are located a little far from you, but give them a call.

Just got a call from Tri-City today, my bumper for the 65 is done. They had a core when I called them 10 days ago and now it's shipped. 550 with core, 650 without.

Did you call the place in Brainerd at all? Can't remember the name, Northstar plating I think it used to be.

Nope, didn't even check them. Google didn't show them to me on a MN bumper search, in fact Tri-City was the first on the search, then when they had a core on hand at a decent price it was a go for me.
