As usual, I do not know where I got this or what it goes to. I have had it for 20 years.

I did the normal ID checks .. Nick's Garage in particular .. but am a little confused as I don't see it there, and it has some strange features.

The original sticker has a copyright date (its fading so you cant read it, see orange arrow) of "1972" and it says "Made in Canada" underneath that.

The snorkels in 1972, per Nick's Garage and my own experience, have "square" openings. But this snorkel opening is "oval" ala the late 1960's so why the 1972 date sticker?

Anybody seen this type of air cleaner and is able to identify it by year? Thanks for your help in advance.

Now you need to find the car for it.

The snorkel on my 1972 has a square opening. I had a '71 with a square opening also.

:)

your experience lines up with mine. square openings from '70-'73.

so i have the mystery of the "1972" label. does "Canada" have anything to do with it? Original engine size LA vs RB? Car or truck?

not asking you oliver .. just theorizing out loud. thanks again.

thanks oliver.

is it just me, or is there NO snorkel under this hood? Im getting up there and my eyes are goin' .. but....

CORRECTION.. single, square snorkel is there. Interesting piece on 72 Imp by the way.

this darn thing is now pissin' me off .. officially. :BangHead:

the snorkel's shape is like the old cover-on-base designs: oval inlet, roundish shape, no vacuum unit on snorkel, etc..

BUT obviously is a lid-on-element design used until the carbs/TBI's went away and of course in 1972 - when the snorkels had vacuum units/square inlets on the snorkels.

One of you folks save me from a sleepless night :)
