Where was this Mopar Brochure/Ad Photo shot?

oops :BangHead:

I offer a tricky one - a shot of my '68 Fury taken during a road trip in 1969. A hint none of the car have their engines running while climbing the hill.

While anyone interested is marinating on #215, I found this one a while back from an average citizen proud of his Detonator Yellow rig and where he lives.

Three hints:

1. This is a big city, not the United States tho, in North America.
2. They had an Olympics here once, and its still quite a sportin' town.
3. Good fishin' and skiing in the area.

City, "State", and County, plus a bonus "Dude" recognition from Don Knotts if you know about where this Challenger was parked in the city.

This picture has to be about 6 years old as there is now a guard rail there.

#217, is Calgary Alberta, Canada on Crescent Dr NW.

300rag had it down to the city block and PM'd me (he's gotten many of these games but before Don Knotts started giving out Dudes :)), minutes later Fury440 posted it.

I was looking through old aerials trying to find one without the guardrail.
Between 6th Ave NW and 1 st NW

The 8x8 wooden post have been replaced with a steel barrier, as can be seen in this shot. My best guess is the original picture was taken about 2012.

a local thing -- "climbing a hill without engine running"? guess too tricky for me as it went over my if not as I am not sure how that's done :)

im sure someone will chime in.

Yes Bill, that is quite an "attraction". Was there in '73.

Holy crap. I found it! I think. I guess I didn't appreciate the "gravity" of the situation :)

I am assuming the photo is Canadian? IF so, there are about 10 places listed where this "spooky action" is possible.

I was keying in on the location most closely named for an "attraction" so I picked the "NB" location with a configuration suitable for something with the mass of a car to climb a 'hill"?

So now I know "why" .. just dont quite know the "where" if its NOT the "NB" location (e.g., ON or QC sites with "attractive" names also).

You guys are good, yes NB .. but how does it work?

Well Bill, you know it's an optical 'delusion'. Any good quality GPS will let you see that you are actually rolling downhill.
Maybe today, but back in 1969 it really was a head scratcher. Even after you learned the truth, part of you really didn't believe it.

I remember one father explaining magnetic fields to his three kids and rolled a couple of cans of Campbell soup up the hill. One of his kids tried his baseball and up the hill it went. The father collected his soup and kids and left shaking his head. One of the theories was an alien space craft had crashed into the hill and became buried. There are others, in Oregon they have a "magnetic" hill called the "Oregon Vortex". Better marketing with a catchy name. This hill was mentioned during the season seven episode number five "Rush".
Disbelieve at your own risk!

Gravity hills abound worldwide it seems: List of gravity hills - Wikipedia

I have never been on one in car .. vaguely remember a Ripley's (as Polara71 said) or that "In Search of" show Leonard Nimoy hosted decades ago (AFTER I used 300rag's hint to figure it out) about them being unsolved mysteries.

Then i recalled High School physics class .. making water run uphill .. where its obvious what's going on when you have the "perspective" you need as the observer.

As 300rag said, when youre on the "hill" it only LOOKS uphill in that particular section of the road. Fact is the whole road, including the 'uphill" section youre on, is slanting downhill. You've been fooled because the visual cues that help you determine your true elevation are absent.

Its physics .. gravity in particular .. so that's the "law" in this Universe. IF the decline is steep enough, you car will roll downhill .:)

heres the Magnetic Hill in Moncton, New Brunswick. Lotsa other videos on other hills in world on YouTube. Couple of 2 minute ones here:

One more. Sorry about the Tesla Model S but I wanted to do this location. Experts thank you for your restraint if you choose to let it run :). PM me if you want to confirm your answer.

Three hints.

1. Never had a game here in this North American City
2. Beautiful city .. seriously.
3. Virtually burned to the ground over 100 years ago.

City, "State" and country. If you're energetic enough, where is the Tesla parked roughly? Don Knotts has a Dude with you name on it.

Pretty sure I got it close. See your inbox.

#236. going once, going twice ... from the land glorious and free. :)

Anyway, #236 answer will be posted tomorrow evening and then we'll marinate a bit on #215 (which I believe to be unsolvable) unless somebody else starts a new puzzle.

Me and the peg man been flyin' around for couple of days for 236 - no luck.

your search intuition is good and you're in the right part of the world.

Some of the others of you who are good at this might find the exact spot of the car, but i cannot yet.

There are spots in Google Maps where the camera car didnt/cant drive. And in this particular city, the best spot for the car, to me, is NOT accessible by Peg Man.

So there is NO street view available .. unless i am in the WRONG spot OR the Google Map photos are OLDER versions (from before the spot was accessiible by car).

So my answer, unless I have a breakthrough, will be location and a satellite view of where I believe the Tesla is parked.
