NOT MINE!!!... This has been sitting in my bookmarks for awhile, sez still in a mid 70's Cop Car.
No pics or price, but if that ads still up as they say... anyone know this one in NC?

Big Block 440 And 3 Speed 727 Auto Transmission

engine and transmission are still in mid 70s Plymouth Grand Fury 4 door . former ex police car . it has the 440 Police Pursuit Package that is also known as the 440 Police Interceptor Package . this is a very hard to find engine and transmission . therefore it would make a great combo for a pro street or drag strip build . 4x4 mud machine . rat rod , speed boat or whatever you decide to put it in.

That dude must have a 3rd grade education with his grammar and punctuation.

I was putting this up more along the line of the Cop Car & parts, like sub-frame, steering box and other PK related items. Moron thread or here, I choose here.

Its junk to me, mid 70s low compression motor etc, nah, pass.

Curious now. On a mid-70's low compression Ford 360 you can turn it into a 9.5 compression engine by changing out the crank for a 390 crank and the rods for 390 shorts. With that you go from 8.5 and piston down in the hole to a 9.5. Just what I did with my truck 360. Can nothing be done to move a low compression 440 higher?

Sure you could put new pistons it in etc, then because of extra horsepower put a steel crank in it for peace of mind, need a new camshaft as well. Plus they were starting to make the engine blocks with thin wall castings so you can't bore it out too much and then there is an increase in temperature as well. To me, its easier to simply buy an earlier engine and work with that.

but but it's an interceptor! :p
Intercepted.

No such animal. That's a excuse to cover a lot of core shift/poor Q.A. in the foundry. Later blocks are usually better as long as Sonic test shows minimal core shift. For a mild build it would make no difference and a cast crank is good to 500hp easy. Punch it over .030 and a set of 6 pack pistons (cheap) with the 452 cylinder heads will put you in the low 9s:1 better than any un-blueprinted 906 headed engine would ever have. A little extra cam, some port clean up with new valves, intake and headers your in at 420-440 hp range. Safe for crank and rods easy on the wallet.

I’m having my ’68 440 rebuilt at the moment. 0.03 overbore was deemed necessary, as the piston rings had eaten up into the cylinder. Not much, but I prefer to be safe. It’s getting KB 237 flat top pistons, which should give a nice 9.7 to 10.6 compression, depending on the actual volume of the stock 906 heads, and the thickness of the head gasket. The piston weighs 770 grams, ie. approximately 3/4 of the OEMs, so the engine should rev happily. All the way to the 5800 redline, that the new cam is supposed to allow. The power should be somewhat up from stock, too, although I prefer torque.

That's the part very few ever check and just assume it is even close. It ain't. I have a set that are at 80cc and the dead area across from the plug (open chamber area) is almost milled flat. If you did not have heads milled they are 8-10 cc higher than the 80 mine are at.

It will still run well, and compression is not the holy grail everyone would like it to be, power is still in (heads)airflow.

FWIW - this is near Charlottesville, VA not Charlotte, NC.

oooPs yor right! I didn't scope out the map far enough!
All the better could be a old VSP Interceptor! HA!

FWIW my 1977 PK41 with the 440 Lean Burn with 60k+ original miles (still had the rear brake drum retainers & the other secret item) was turn key with enough power to pitch the *** end sideways (sorry State Trooper) to keep me happy. But then again I was getting older and pursuing other pleasures with a big high speed road bike that 'ahem' could get 50mpg.
Also back then (70's) I never heard anyone refer to the Mopar 440 cop cars as "Interceptors" think that was a Ferd Term.
