Remember when?

Remember when you could punch a bully in school to set them right. I do because I have done it and was in Catholic School. Well on Thursday my son got a mark against him at school, because another classmate for wouldn't leave him alone, and my son called him a jerk. Both were called in and of course there was the talk of just ask the offender to leave you alone. Well we know how well that works. One deals with a bully early on by showing them there can be pain for what they do. You need to do it early before they get older and get hanger ons. This talk crap just teaches them they can get away with this stuff and even get the other kid in trouble.

Since I know the principal I am going to talk with him and tell him how it was when I was in school I the 60s. If this kid lays a hand on my son then my son will have permission to retaliate immediately like I once did. If he wants to make it an issue I will gladly go public in a big way.

My youngest son had to deal with a bully in junior high summer school once. I had always told him that it was best not to fight, but sometimes you just gotta...

Since my son had kind of screwed up and failed a class, he knew he had to make it that summer. He had a guy from another school that didn't know him sitting next to him and this guy was being a jerk to him. My son never took the bait though and kept his cool. What the guy didn't realize was that my son could take care of himself... Some years in youth hockey as a defense man didn't hurt. The last week of school, this guy just ramped up the nonsense, but my son ignored it for the most part. He just wanted to get through school and getting kicked out wouldn't be good. Last day of school... The guy crossed a line and my son reached over, grabbed the legs of his desk and flipped the kid over on his back.

The teacher saw this and told him to meet him down at the principals... He dutifully walked down there and waited. The teacher showed up and said "I was wondering when you would have enough" and basically told him to not worry about it "He had it coming". Nothing more was said.

The kid's parents freaked out though.... and wanted blood because their little bully had gotten his comeuppance. The teacher stuck up for my son, again saying "He had it coming" and added "He's lucky that's all he got". They backed down after that.

My wife is a baseball nut and she follows all the Blue Jay games, which means the TV gets locked down and I'm forced to follow the games. Not bad, I'm starting to get interested, but what I really notice is how empty the stands are. Maybe the teams are happy with the TV revenue and don't care if the stands are full. It's a shamed really, when I was a kid if you were 12 or younger you got in free. Not any more I guess.

One pill makes you larger, and one pill makes you small
And the ones that mother gives you, don't do anything at all
Go ask Alice, when she's ten feet tall
And if you go chasing rabbits, and you know you're going to fall
Tell 'em a hookah-smoking caterpillar has given you the call
And call Alice, when she was just small
When the men on the chessboard get up and tell you where to go
And you've just had some kind of mushroom, and your mind is moving low
Go ask Alice, I think she'll know
When logic and proportion have fallen sloppy dead
And the white knight is talking backwards
And the red queen's off with her head
Remember what the dormouse said
Feed your head, feed your head

The Family of a friend of mine bought a house that had a bar completely built in concrete, including the chairs in the 60s, they had some fun tearing it down. I wish they'd made a pic of it.

If it the basement didn't have cheap 4mm cardboard paneling with a cheap suspended ceiling, it was not a true 60's basement remodel. Lol.
And of course the boxed in heater ducts.
