Did Some Sleuthing on the Reproduction Mopar Washer Bottles for 70-73 C Bodies

Good work! Maybe they will make a 69 fury bottle as well. What other interesting things are you working on these days?

Great work Steve!

Now I wonder if I should put my two spares up on ebay for $300 each.

Would that be dishonest, like insider trading, or just shrewd?

Thanks Steve, nice work. Now about those door pulls......

Last time I pursured that project, it was in CanCritters hands to work something out. He has taken some big steps to make it happen.

But then he recently underwent some surgery and is now on the mend. I am not sure where this leaves the door pull project at this point. I was hoping to be able to meet up with him when he was down here in California recently, but we couldn't connect. Hopefully we will hear something from him in the near future about his plans. He is a strong asset to this site.

On the subject of door pulls please be reminded that SMS has some of mine to re-do. God knows how long it will be before they are done. I sent them photos and then sent them my cracked originals and they quoted me $80 each + return shipping.

So glad the Dodge models I have dont use them. But very glad there is an option for the guys that need them.

I had been wondering what Gary Goers had done with everything, glad someone was able to take up the mantle, and I'm sure the Forward Look guys are as well. Gary had done things for other year cars as well, and that's worth checking out.

I wouldn't hold my breath for the 1969 style bottle. It doesn't fit enough cars to generate a high demand, and being tucked down in the fender, it's not nearly as subject to damage like the '70-'73 bottle. On those cars, every time you work on the left side of the engine, the bottle is at risk of getting broken. It's right where your arm wants to be, especially when changing spark plugs and tightening the P/S belt. Owning quite a few '70-'73 C's, I can tell you the the sound of a freshly crunched washer bottle is very familiar to me.

You talking about these pull handles on the left?

Bumping with a battery as well!

I believe those are the door pulls that we are talking about. I’d also think that any saddlemaker would be able to make a repro of those. After all, a saddlemaker is used to working with tough, thick pieces of leather.

CanCritter and I were focused on the door pulls on the left in your photo. The more narrow ones on the right usually don't crack since they have a metal band in the center and it is encased in only molded plastic or vinyl. The wider ones on the left have multiple sliding pieces of card board (maybe 3 or so) on both sides of the metal band, and they are encased in a piece of thin vinyl upholstry material like on seat covers, so it cracks easily.

I talked with Todd again today and he only added that the owners said they are still getting some quotes from makers of the mold for the washer bottles that will be used in blow molding them. They reiterated they are focused on having them ready for the July 12-14 Chrysler Carlisle event.

It is also clear they are having a hard time keeping up with phone traffic and orders since acquiring Gary Goer's business late last year. So whether they make their goal is still an issue, but they are trying and it will be available - just not sure exactly when.
