What is up with this site! I know I am not exactly computer savvy but I just posted these pics, quick reply, to add description of pics, after wasting a bunch of time writing a paragraph and trying to post it won't let me, I'm "not logged in" even though I just was allowed to post pics. So I am sent to log in but not redirected back, all work lost. Frustrating to say the least. Am I doing something wrong? Do you have to log in after posting a new thread?

I knew that had to be the 71' . Ive seen photos of it and had fallen in love with it about four years ago I guess. Thats one I want on the Polara ranch.

Glad you are here to answer, what is with the body side moldings? Those are not original..... I'd like to see the fender tag on her.... pm me if youd like

First pic. is my baby 71 Polara base, Dark gold metallic, Deluxe black all vinyl int., original paint, roof interior, windshield. I have no reason to believe the side mouldings aren't original. Research has me believe base Polaras came with the wide polished moulding. While customs and broughams had the thinner moulding with the rubber insert ? A Canada thing ? I wish I could show you the fender tag, that and the antennae sadly did not come with the car
Second pics. are from the local university's (U of A's) newspaper The Gateway, and are of my beater 71 Newport custom in front of the Canada permanent building, which has been abandoned for about five years (100 years old). Script under pic reads- Photo of the week- Shots like this are considered "fated" (Photo by) Christine Varvis

My first 71 Polara was a base Polara, 318 no air ,vinyl and cloth , am radio. Normal side trim with insert. Yours is the only one I have seen with these moldings.

What happened to the fender tag on an original car?

Sorry for the late reply, it got cold which means I get busy, and I believe the second owner, the original owners brother and owner of a 69 New yorker removed it for sentimental reasons ? He owned the car for around twenty years then gave it to the Original owners son who had it for a few years hoping his son would take interest in it but failed to. Can you believe that! I even met him while I was inspecting the car and had to confirm this story, it was true! He wasn't interested at all! Family history included! Incredible! So I bought it and yeah it's too bad it's lacking it's tag, however the rest of the car speaks for itself and yes there are broadcast sheets will post pics. once I get at them and some close ups of the trim.

I just discovered this thread. Beautiful car!

I bought a cousin of your car last week — a ‘71 Monaco. Its original color is GY9, like your Polara, but the interior is white (buckets) and the vinyl top is white. My car was repainted burgundy by the previous owner, unfortunately.

Mine still has its tag, and I will be looking for a broadcast sheet when work let’s up a bit. Would you kindly post the sheet of yours (or, if you already have posted it, please point me to the right thread)?

Wow, you dug up a really old thread. White bucket Monaco? Sweet! I'm going to assume that's the tail stripe car recently discussed? White top too? That's an interesting combination. That poor car has been tucked away since before that post. I'll be sure to post a pic of the sheet once I get to it, it's tucked safely in the back seat springs.

Thanks for responding! Yep, mine is indeed the white-striped one. White buckets, white vinyl top too!

Edit(2-21): is the driver-side mirror original on your car? It looks a lot like that on mine, which I have been told is not.

That's a great car you've got! The mirror is original. They switched from round to rectangular for 1971. Most cars didn't have passenger side mirrors, standard equipment on Imperials, extra twelve bucks or so on other models. My '71 New Yorker coupe has a factory rectangular passenger side mirror, non remote.

I just went through the for sale ad featuring your car. You can see in the photo with the original paint it has the correct mirror. Your current ones are the right shape, (rectangular) just not factory correct. And the dark gold with white roof is an odd choice in my opinion. White or black interiors go with anything, the white top with dark gold paint just seems odd. Mine has brown? vinyl, that practically matches the paint. I've always thought it would look better with black vinyl. Is your tail stripe vinyl?

We are on the same wavelength -- they have generally the right shape but are not factory correct. The interesting bit is that the driver's aside was changed at the time when the passenger-side mirror was added. The previous owner told me he had spent money/time to make sure they were correct -- I did not have the heart to disabuse him, given that the two sides do match. They will stay on the car till it gets a full restoration -- which, as my current plans stand, is not for the near future as I want to enjoy the car as an excellent driver!

I am not so sure it is an odd choice. The two 1971 c-body Dodges with a white interior that I know (the EB7 Polara of @polara71 and my GY9) both have white vinyl roofs. The FK5 1970 owned by @saforwardlook also came with a V1W roof. Indeed, his 1970 matches a car in the 1970 Dodge Monaco sales brochure. (Edit: here is a '72 New Yorker coupe with the same GY9/white/white combo; here is a '71 Newport in GY9 with a V1W roof)

Keep the comments and questions coming, but most importantly -- pray tell more about your car?

Guess what I found on Flickr? Yes, it is Sinamin at the 2012 Crosstown Motors show in Edmonton. @3C's & a D? -- is your GY9 Polara gonna be back on the road for her 50th birthday? We could have a reunion with Medina at MoparFest or Carlisle, and I might even get Medina painted back to her original Dark Gold shade if I knew that you'd be there with Sinamin.

Yes, the long slumber will soon be over. I'm not huge on car shows, but would like to make it to both of those one's, some day. Both are pretty far away, and I have no immediate plans, however will definitely let you know when it eventually happens. Thanks for posting the picture, I always liked that one, those are my jeans and boots. The first picture in this thread is from the same show, one year earlier. It rained, and they let some of the first entrants there in the brand new shop. They had just moved from they're original location. And if you scroll through the pictures, you'll see the nicest '61 Chrysler Windsor, Black with red interior. One of the nicest cars I've ever seen, an sadly the only time I ever saw it.

But its still the same profile. I need to see more!

@3C's & a D? -- thanks a real lot for posting the VIN and broadcast sheets (and some nice new pics) of DE23K1D317002 aka Sinamin! Late build, too.

@69CoronetRT will note the Canadian "C" VON
