Thoughts on Automotive Styling, aka old cars are obsolete.

Did you bump you're head? Sorry, but that thing is butt ugly!

Especially compared to a Desoto of the same year...

I didn't ask for your license and DOB when we met, but I should hope you've got a least couple more decades above the ground, lol.

Don't take it personally, but when I'm in Orlando I feel like the subtle handwriting is an LED billboard. Flashing. And on fire. During a hurricane.
We already have plenty of self driving cars... Problem is the technology behind it is a smart phone under the control of a dumbass. I'm not sure if Orlando traffic is the worst, but it is to me... we are going to be big contributors to the eventual study that will prove humans can't drive... which will lead us down the path of you're no longer allowed to drive.

I predict that I will enjoy driving more at first, when the idiots who have no interest in driving, get cars that are taking over the entire task. But that will be a short lived period, as my human driven insurance rates become affordable... which may be the issue taking old cars off the roads vs legislation.

Yes, that's how I think it will go... cost of insuring a human driven car will become unaffordable. We "might" be able to get special coverage in rural areas where there isn't much to hit.

There is plenty to hit in rural areas. A woman rolled her car on it's side right in front of my house. There is just less $$ penalty on what you hit in the country.

When I wrote that, I almost put "fewer things to hit that can sue your insurer" but I also imagine there will be dirt and tree activists by then, suing on their behalf.

I'm glad to be 52 and a family history that can't make it past 75. I will most likely be gone, or at least too old to give a rats ***.

I really don't like modern cars.
The age of modern cars starts for me in the mids 70s though.

Unfortunatly I had to buy a smaller daily driver for the summer, too.
Due to a change in my office building I have a new parking garage which is not accessible for my black 1970 Imperial as it is too long to corner smoothly.

My new summer daily is now a compact and I am not really happy about it. No joke.

One of my a lot better looking cars is in the backround of the first picture

Yeah, I wouldn't want to commute to work in my compact Cuda either. They ride like buck boards and the seats are less than comfortable. I know your pain! :(

But at least it is yellow.

it has a split bench not buckets. I really can't sit comfortable in it due to my size. Not sure if I will really keep it as a daily. With a 340/auto it is at least balanced nicely to corner. But I am really not an E-body guy:(

You have to be younger to be a E body guy. Mine for better at 22 than 52.

sorry but it is not the same year.
The Shivvy is a 55.
The Desoto and Fury are 56 models

Sorry but they all look the same to me and most any one else..55-56? Who cares your splitting hairs here, they still look like crap. Let me go find a '55 Desoto then. I'm very sure they still look better than a '55 Chevy.....OH here's one..

Maybe a '55 Chrysler?

Sorry but the 55 and 56 Chevy look the same to me. The '57 Chevy looks way too much like a '56 Plymouth to me.
So there.. LOL

Harley Earl was a good designer, but no one could match Vigil Exner in terms of talent and creativity. He was sheer genius.

By "split bench", do you mean individual backrests, common cushion, with an arm rest? I've only driven very short bursts in a '70 Challenger I bought to flip, but I know how useless the early Mopar consoles are for "comfort". I always thought the e-body with an armrest would be much better.

If I came across one, I was planning to use the lack of a console to knock the price down to the standard $2500. Don't crush my dreams.

The bottom pic shows a 55 Imperial! :poke:

I´m not a big fan of fins, but 61 Imperials and 60 Plymouths (no Valiant) have some unexplainable appeal in my eyes like 60-61 Chryslers and DeSotos have.

@Carmine, I suppose it´s this one, so a bench that has the split seat back, folding arm rest and solid bottom.

The local Ford store has one of these sitting on the showroom floor. SHO Taurus... Pearl white, loaded, AWD, twin turbo 365 horse etc. The manager's company car, it's a 2016 that would be sold as a new car. I don't think we can come together on a price anyway, but I just can't quite warm up to the looks.
