Somebody drilled some holes in it as seen in the pictures end it could use a little hammer and dolly work on the ends of the snorkels but otherwise it’s in fantastic condition. Comes with a base with the smaller opening for the carburetor.
$100 + shipping.

I was under the impression that the "small hole" stopped in '67, with the matching AFB carb. With the "large hole" starting in '68?

Of course, the bases interchange with the same air cleaner top.

Just some thoughts,

I have several of these early bases and none of the correct ones so the person with maybe the single snorkel version of this air cleaner if there is one already has the right base.

The bases are interchangeable between the single and dual snorkel lids. Done it many times.

That’s what I figured. The diameter of the base is about 17.5”.

Btw I do have another one of these without the cap nipple that’s mint but also no base for $200 + shipping.

My '67 Newport is a 383 4bbl car, with the Carter AFB from the factory. Yet a 440/350 New Yorker came factory-equipped with a Holley 4160 that year, which would have had the "big hole" or "Holley" base. Which would modify my prior post on the model year, as I was thinking of my car with a 383 car with a factory AFB.

Also note that all of the B/RB filter housings take the same air filter element.

IF you have a single snorkel that you desire to keep "stock looking", but desire more possible performance (WITHOUT drilling any holes), replace the factory filter base (which goes all the way to the edge of the upper housing) with that of a '68 RoadRunner (providing you have a Holley 4bbl carb). That filter base is as big as the filter element, with a lip on the outer edge. Which, when used with the normal upper housing, leaves an open area around the edge of the air claner top piece. Incognito open element air cleaner!

Unfortunately, that only works with the earlier filter housings, not the '69 and up housings, which are a completely different design.

Enjoy!

The $200 unit is sold.

And so is the one with the holes in it now.
