Do I need to drop the steering column down to remove the instrument cluster? Neither the gas gauge nor the clock or working and the turn signal lights are inop as well. Thanks Rene'

You just need to lower the column at the dash only... not remove it. This create enough room at the bezel with the switches so the can swing out without scratching up the column. It will add an extra 15 min to the work. Watch out to not lower the column too much as you have the linkage for the shift indicator attached between the column and dash.

Total agreement. I had to remove mine about 1-1/2 years ago.
