After a long session of not watching TV I'd thought I'd catch a little bit of the lovely Robin Mead with this mornings coffee to catch up on current affairs. Nooope, after several Pill Commercials and some horrible "I killed my son" teaser for a new HLN crime show I 'jist had to go back to this weekends off road racing for another view.
Think I'll put on the thumb drive in the TV for a full race 2018 Baja onboard camera view for today's electronic wallpaper.

Oh and BTW it's nice to see old guys winning!

I had a good friend who ran a VW in the 500 with a 250hp plus outboard motor grafted to the transaxle. These trucks make the 80s stuff look slow.
I had to Google Robin Mead.
Can I have about 45 seconds of your day Miss Mead? This won't take long.

After watching that video through, you can tell the guys that have the suspension sorted out.

Yea 30" of travel is the standard now, at the start line ceremony they interviewed one of the top new builders of Trophy Trucks, him and his crew were burning the midnight oil to get all the trucks ready for this race (as usual).
Lotta talk of Gen 2 (2018) & Gen 3 (2019) trucks, a few years ago a lot of fans hated the TT's and of course Robbie Gordon and his buddy BJ, not really a fan favorite any more, BUT! they did let him back into Australia and they really hate him now there. ROFLMAO (don't know if he still has the BLM lifetime ban at Glamis)

I really havn't been able to follow to much till the past year or so as SCORE Offroad is on YouTube now.

Yes they are still running the 'Bugs' also other new classes bigger than the quads, CanAM & Polaris are big players here and at the Dakar, Robbie Gordon was in some weird new class, at the Dakar, UltraLight?
Didn't do too well ended up 53rd overall IIRC.

A Motorcycle won overall in the 2019 San Felipe 250, nice to see the bikes on top again.

Yea Robin Meade ain't too bad for the nationwide news, but the pill ads just make me ill so I just click it off.
They also had a segment called HLN shopping around the end of the show, waste of time IMO.

Robin Meade, best thing that came out of Ohio IMHO.

I love watching the big trucks at dacar, if you endo one of those there's a lot of forces at play. I didn't realize Robby Gordon was banned from Glamis for life? Going to have to look that up.

Hey I saw it in the comments section on a Glamis YouTube video so it's got to be true right?

LOL -- Naa I followed up and did some more searching back then and came up with more comments from the tight knit Glamis/Dune'r forum community about his stunts out there.

Back when he parted ways with Monster Energy and started up his own energy drink.

Now I first read this in the Yahoo or AOL page that pops after you exit the webmail, seems he used his Monster Energy (built/owned?) Dakar or Baja Truck for some <ahem> 'Testing' at Glamis, more like Him & BJ put sand paddle tires on the trucks for some eXtreme JumpShots to put up on YouBoob, weeelp Robbie totaled the truck and Monster was none too happy 'bout that! Don't know if this was when he injured his Baja/Dakar co-driver.
In that incident which involved some neck/spine injury which that I guess would've required a air-med flight out of Glamis and if that would make a ban... ??? who knows, all this went on over a decade ago and he probably do as he did in Australia "Buy his way back in". But also there were videos of him at Glamis in a primer painted truck and comments were that he'd give the BLM Rangers "A run for they're money". ha
There are still some YouTube videos of BJ's sand-paddled tire truck from about that era, But I'll bet Monster Energy had any bit of their 'Image' pulled do to being departmental to their 'Image'. Robbie has a video up from 2015 at Glamis testing a prototype Arctic Cat UTV, and this UTV class is what he was in in this years Dakar.

No mention of a "Lifetime Glamis Ban' in his Lengthy "Controversies" section of his WiKi page. Plenty of his course cutting antics in the Baja though. The fans love him down in South America back in the Hummer Dakar days, and there are plenty of great fan vids of the roaring Hummer action, plus the South Americans know him well enough to scatter when they see that orange Hummer hood come looming at them out of the dust cloud, as in every year of Dakar videos since 2015 they will post up in a crash compilation the HiRes video of him nailing a spectator in the Baja 500.

Truth or Folklore? you be the judge!

I totally laughed when reading about his Australia deal.
C'mon mates, it was a jaunt around the block for crikey sake.
Talk about over reacting.

The Aussie PD take Hooning very seriously, even going to length of confiscating the vehicle and crushing it. When I first read about this I did a search and found that certain counties in California (LA & Orange IIRC) do the same, act like a idiot, (dangerous driver) and get a ban/suspension plus lose your vehicle. All of this depends if you own the vehicle outright, if there is a lien on it they will most likely turn it over to the repo man because by the time you get out of jail on bond and find out you can't get said vehicle out of impound you'll have missed a payment.

Also saw a UK show about their ANPR 'Wolf Packs' where if they see your vehicle on the road with un-paid MOT or insurance they seize and crush it if you don't pony up immediately.
