Ok best & brightest what are you using for spark plug wires on your B/RB engines that look good work well and are the correct length? I have tried several off the shelf sets from the Mopar Restoration P4529792 to Napa Gold sets. Either the wires are too long or too short. I am not interested in custom cut to length sets and I looked into @Big_John ‘s suggestion of lectriclimited.com but paying over $100 was a bit rich. Specially I am looking for a set for the 76 RMB with a 400 but I’ve run into the same fitment issues on other big block engines. So let’s have some suggestions and please include part #’s if you have them.

These are what I have had on mine for years now, it's been so long I can't remember if there were any issues but I don't think so.

Summit has the Taylor Cables $90 shipped CDN seems about what good wires run nowadays :(

I prefer to make my own custom cables, you get to control the quality of the components and assembly. Also custom allows you to route the cables to look neat and to keep them away from the exhaust manifold.

I started using Sorenson Mono-Mag magnetic suppression wires in the earlier '70s, when I could get them. Then, the Borg-Warner CoolWires magnetic suppression wires. Now under "BWD" at O'Reilly Auto Parts.

If you can get into the online catalog for plug wires in the Standard Ignition website, they have pictures of their wire sets, lengths, and boot types for the wires in the respective sets. Haven't looked lately, but similar info might be in www.rockauto.com for the Std Ignition wire sets?

I have been using strictly Taylor made wires. Just my personal preference. I don’t know if I’d opt in for the close to $100 set, but they do make some good stuff

I had to bite the bullet with mine since it's a "Poly" which entitles the sellers to charge double and triple if you want the correct manufactured date stamps on the wiring.

I wish you the best of luck on this, Graham. In all my years, I haven't found a proper length off the shelf set since the seventies.
And I bought some very expensive "Exact OEM-replica" ones, too.

look good work well and are the correct length

My criteria for choosing plug wires has always been "work well and are the correct length". They had to be good enough to last a decent length of time, not interfere with the radio or ignition system and get the spark to the spark plug. Sounds easy... As far as "look good", as long as they weren't lime green and glowed in the dark, I was happy. I really didn't care if they were date coded with the original part number silk screened on them.

I’ve run into the same fitment issues on other big block engines

But there it is... Fitment... I never found a set of off the shelf wires that fit correctly. #5 and #7 plug wires were ALWAYS too short and #2 was too long. There was no using the factory brackets and insulators that did a good job keeping the wires away from the hot exhaust manifolds and off the upper control arms. There was no way to research what fits right either. You can look at parts listings all day and never figure out if they are going to fit until you pull them out of the box and start installing them. The plug wire companies have figured out what will "work" with a multitude of applications and that's what you get.

So... I've made plug wires and that's great if you want to spend the time. Last time I did that, it wasn't cheap for good ones and there wasn't the combination of straight and angled terminals that you need. Frustrating and time consuming at best.

After all this, I bit the bullet and reached just a little deeper in my wallet to buy from Lectric Limited and never looked back. They fit like they are supposed to and seem to work well. IMHO, extra $$ was well spent. The bonus (to me) is that they look OEM.

When I was young and industrious and my concentration was longer, I made my own sets economically (Well, kinda sorta... Lol) with good old Packard 440 wire and Rajah terminals.
To this day, I don't think that combo can be beat.

So... ~25' @ $1.50 per foot with $3 each for the Rajah plug terminals. Not so cheap anymore. LOL

I bought a set of Moroso Blue Max 8mm wires. None were too short but some had the wrong boot style for best fit on my engine. I think they all had 90* boots and there should have been a couple straight ones on the passenger side. So I bought some DIY boots and a cheap-ish crimper (MSD Mini Stripper / Crimper 3503) that mounts in a vice, and modified the wires to my liking. The blue colour doesn't match anything else under the hood, but I see that they sell Blue Max wires in colours other than blue now.

If I was looking for new wires again, I'd probably get a DIY kit which you cut-to-length and crimp the boots on one end yourself. BTW, Mancini Racing has Mopar cut-to-fit wires (P4529032) on sale for 10% off right now at $68.40 US.

I've always used the Taylor Spiro-pro 8mm universal set. I've had them on three engines (318LA, 383 and a 440) and never had an issue .. plus you get to route them perfectly. Yea, not cheap, but I've never had a wire related issue while using them.

I've got a set of Taylor Street Thunders on the NYer they work fine. They are too long. If you put the extra length at the distributor then it looks like you have something blooming. My complaint is their customer service is non existent. Just over a month after I put them on I was checking the plugs and one of the boots came off. They wouldn't even consider replacing it, I had to buy the replacement.
