Forte Engine Flush....your opinion/experience please?

My excellent and experienced mechanic friend who works on the trickier stuff on my ‘67 Monaco Wagon 383 2BBL in a land far, far away here in the Scottish Borders kindly gave me this....
He said it has practically magical properties and is so advanced you can leave it in your engine for a while (even between oil changes) and it does nothing but good...quietening tappets, improving compression etc.. hrmmmmmmm.... this goes against everything I ever knew or have heard about these products, but he is a really clever guy and he has worked wonders with my car so far......I’d love to hear your thoughts and experiences with old Mopar engines such as ours......
 
I went to the website and was not impressed with how it translated to English but that’s probably not a big deal. I was hoping to find an active ingredient though and didn’t. Nothing for nothing, I’m not dumping anything into my engine if I don’t know what it is.
 
All I can say for sure is that here in NL it is the most used engine flush used by experienced professionals. Never used it myself but heard some second hand positive stories for what it's worth. Obviously don't expect it to fix what is broken :rolleyes:.
They only sell through their B2B network, therefore it is hard to find in a store.
 
Some of the old guys I know or used to know used to swear by using trans oil because of the detergent in it.
 
If you have a clean engine, you do not need it. If you have and engine with a lot of built up sludge etc, you might well break all of that crap loose at once and cause a catastrophic failure. Not familiar with this particular product, but as a general rule engine flushes are a bad idea. You will do far more good by using a quality motor oil and changing it as needed. And yes, you can ad a quart of ATF with the oil change for increased detergent action.

This happened to me using Seafoam. I went from blue smoke on startup to have a crop duster that used more oil than gas -seriously, a 12 mile trip I used 2 quarts. An old time mechanic in my area told me the same thing Dave said. I ended up buying a new engine.

As I've said before I used Seafoam once and took the engine apart. It cleaned ZERO. Snake oil.

Correct me if I am mistaken but isn't seafoam only meant for fuel systems? I have used it in 3 cars that failed emissions along with a tank of Shell V-Power and all 3 passed after I did that. The only sure way to clean oil systems that I have found is using a lighter oil and change every 2000 miles. It slowly erodes the sludge without breaking any chunks free.

I used it in the fuel. Some in the carb and some in the gas tank. When I cleaned the oil pickup during engine change I found some small pieces that were piston ring size. The engine seemed to be the original and was due for a rebuild but the Seafoam seemed to be the final straw.
