Folks,

We are just about to start the half-century anniversary of the scheduled production for our 1970 model year convertibles. We have a "Last Of The Convertibles" thread already, started by @c-barge. It initially focused on the very last ones produced (in July 1970) but has over time turned into an informal registry of sorts for these great cars.

I am using the present thread to (i) encourage tag posting there by folks who have not yet done so, and also (ii) to have a separate place where birthday celebration photos and stories of the cars can be posted.

So, who will start?

The tag of what is quite possibly the first Chrysler 300 'vert built (on 8/1/69) was posted here by @71Polara383, who found it in a yard in Fairmount, GA.

On the Newport side, the earliest '70 ragtop of which I am aware is @3C's & a D?'s, built on 9/23/1969.

On the Dodge side, @62dodge's Polara is the oldest one in the LC thread, but an older one is still rolling in the hills of Ohio (the owner is not a member, AFAIK) and, thanks to @polara71, I know of an even one that was built on August 2nd, 1969 (it was stripped and junked a number of years ago, but perhaps Dave might share some memorial info here on August 2nd).

As for Plymouth, I have come up empty-handed for August builds, although several folks who own a '70 Fury III convertible might be good candidates.

Looking forward to seeing/hearing b-day cheers!

DL27G0D101310 would have had its 50th birthday today. Unfortunately, this ER6 red/white top G-code ragtop with black buckets and buddy seat died and was parted back in 2003.

It is the earliest-built 1970 Polara 'vert of which I am aware. I am hoping that @polara71 or @FURYGT might have its tag and/or photos of the car that they could share on the car's birthday.

Today (or tomorrow) will also be the fiftieth birthday of DL27G0D101336, which was last discussed on FCBO at the time when it surfaced in Indiana, PA. The lone photo I have of this car is attached below. It'd be great if @mdh157 or @Autoengineer (or Dave, of course), who were paying attention (while I was not ) when the car was being sold, in 2014, might be able/willing to share more info.

On the fender tag is the scheduled manufacturing date, aka your car’s birthday. For 1970, the info is located on the second line from the bottom of the tag, after the exterior and interior color codes and before the sequence number. If you post your tag, we shall be happy to help you figure out your car’s!

I didn't realize I had the earliest (currently known) Newport! Thanks ayilar! I always wondered about the date, being sold at crosstown motors in Edmonton, estimating a month for delivery, she showed up an all white car, black interior, just in time for a lengthy Alberta winter. Probably arrived in the snow! I was just looking at the door panels the other day and noticed this-

CM27T0C102373 is still alive (at least it was earlier this year), and its 50th birthday was probably this weekend or last week based on the VIN. Any more info on that 1970 300 'vert, ideally including its tag? I did not see it in the original "for sale" thread.

@ImpJay alerted me to the fact that PM27N0D108414, an N-code Fury ‘vert, was currently for sale as a project. The 4-barrel 383 engine and the transmission are sadly gone. I don’t have the tag, but the listing mentions a T&T steering column, buckets and console so it must have been a nicely equipped car. Based on its VIN, the car’s birthday party would have been held sometime this week (Dodges with a similar VIN were produced on 8/21, but Plymouth output was higher).

DL27L0D110005, a nicely equipped FQ3 light turquoise Polara 'vert with a 383-2 engine, was last seen on sale but not yet wasted away in West Virginia. Her birthday would have been yesterday. Any update on that 'vert would be welcome!

Today is the 50th bday of @62dodge's Newport convertible. His car has its own thread here, and a photo of its tag is here.

PS: the birthday of CM27T0C106747 must not be far from today, but without the fender tag, it's impossible to know.

Today, Sept. 3, is the 50th birthday of @JPMODL's Polaraco. She had a near-death experience and was rebuilt into the fantastic car she is today by Rich Schettkoe, whom I had the pleasure of meeting at Carlisle this year.

Very nice car, thank you for posting -- nicely equipped! Actually, the scheduled build date for PM27L0D151325 was a month ago, 50 years back: Nov. 4, 1969 (not 1970).

Heck, I'm not sure was using the info you provided me in another thread. Either way I can't wait to get my motor back from the machine shop in about a week.. Hope to be cruising by spring. Hard to buy such a fun car and pull apart before I drove it 200 miles. Love the info on here

Oops, if I did so, then it was a typo and I am sorry for it. Look forward to seeing pics of your car on the road. Planning on making it to Carlisle for the 50th anniversary of our 'verts?
