1961 Plymouth amp guage question

l got this NOS amp guage from AMS auto. I didn't notice in the pics it has the 60 amp vs the D/C one that are In my 61s? Is this for police cars or export?

60 amp is pretty high, so you might be right about a heavy duty application.

Could be, I've not seen one of those. All mine are C/D. Is there a part number on it?

Parts book shows two part numbers for 61 Ply AMP gage's
2257659 and 2257785 60A. special application not shown.

61 was the first use of an alternator on Plymouths built in the USA. I believe 61 Canadian build retained the Generator until 62. This could be for a Canadian built car. JMO.

Hmm, I found this today in the Darrel Davis book.
It lists the application as 60 amp HD police optional
And even another unit yet as extra HD.
I have a original 61 alternator on the way from a 318 61 Plymouth. I'm sure it's a standard 40 amp.
Do you guys think it will be OK use 60 amp guage with 40 amp alternator?

It'll be fine as long as you don't expect it to register full scale......

Yes.... But as stated above, the gage will read a little lower. Should be in the mid range of the gage with a full charge.
I think it best to use the original C/D gage and make the HD gage available to someone who needs one.
