[I posted this in the "parts wanted" forum but thought I might get more traffic posting here]
Hello,
Having a hard time tracking down a windshield for my 1968 Fury II C body 4-door sedan. Several places have looked and some are telling me not available. Auto City Classics told me they have an order coming but not 'til mid February.
Does anybody have a lead? I'd like to obtain one before the end of the month.
-I should mention we did find one on Ebay but seemed a tad pricey ~$500 w/ shipping. Maybe I need to adjust my expectations. I would have thought this windshield would be fairly easy to find...

Dave-
thanks for the lead!
I have submitted a request and will wait to see what those guys come up with.
Does anyone have a source for these in So. Cal??

The windshield should be the same for all C body 4 dr. sedan and Station wagons 1965 thru 1968. Give Murray Park a call.

Did you check Summit I found one for my 67 very there. Only $230 plus shipping. Which I didn't pay because I live 150 miles from them and had never been there so road trip lol.

thanks for the specs. I'll look them up and give them a shout as well. Any/all leads will be considered.
I haven't looked at the numbers but I always thought that the C-body Plymouths (such as my FuryII) were built as the proletariat, family wagon and produced in mass. I always assume there are tens of thousands of them still rolling around the streets all over the US. So, it always surprises me when parts are not readily available. Maybe I need to wake up.
thanks for the lead.

You know, I recently had a bad experience w/ Summit regarding a master cylinder and booster which I purchased from them. It's a long story but it turned out to be the wrong part and I lost a bunch of money chasing my tail trying to figure out how to make it work. If all else fails I may inquire with them at some point but for now I will be giving my money to other businesses. But, thanks for the thought anyways.

The sedan/wagon glass is expensive. Non-fast top hardtops and convertibles are cheap. Windshields To Go says it's available for $390 in the San Diego area. I doubt that you can beat the price anywhere else for a new windshield.

I agree the seeedan windshield is not cheap.
La Chrysler had one replaced a few years ago and with new gasket, and labor cost almost a grand (Cdn funds) installed..
Had to wait about a month for the glass to come in...they were "making it"

Jeff,
This sounds like the best deal I've heard! Thanks for the info.!! I will follow up with them.

They have a bit of an odd system. There will be a menu of all the glass distribution places in the area that they deal with and you pick the one that you want to go to. They will send the windshield to that location and send you info on picking it up. Since what you want is such a slow mover, it may take them a while to get one. The hardtop windshields usually arrive the next day.

Windshield ordered. I ended up going with glassfinders (thanks Dave!!). they arranged for me to pick up in LA, no shipping. thanks for all the support and great leads.

Do you mind giving us the price?

Dave

I paid $375, will call at a warehouse in southern California. Factory tint with shading at the top- supposedly a direct factory replacement.

Thanks, that is about the going price for tinted windshields from glass finders. Like to keep abreast of what various vendors are charging.

Glad you found the glass. Here is a link so you can order the new gasket. Trying to put a new glass in with an old rubber is very hard.
Automotive Rubber Parts and Weatherstripping
Thanks for the link. That stuff is pricey!! Almost as much as I originally thought I'd be paying for the windshield- I will look into another option although this place seems to have exactly what I need... Too, I'm going to hire someone down in Mexico to put the glass in so perhaps they'll have something compatible.

Molding ordered. Autopartswarehouse.com. 86 bucks. Not easy to find!! Glad to be done w/ the search. Hopefully this part works. I'm having it installed in Mexico. It'll work:)
