300-H HURST nerd stuff...

That is VERY cool. Any idea if the sticker was unique to 1970 and up? I've had my tank down and didn't see any remnants of a sticker. I still have the squeak mat that goes between the tank and the trunk floor so I don't believe it had been down before i did it. Nice job removing and reinstalling the sticker. 
I need to take a picture of it but I found a red heavy stock tag under my carpet on the passenger bucket seat. It doesn't have any printing or writing on it, seems to be an unused tag. Any idea what this would have been used for? I'm guessing it would have been used for issues found by the inspectors during production. The tag looks similar to this but, again, to printing or writing on the tag.

May I ask what was wrong with it and how was the numbers tag held in place? Very cool stickers though, guess I am a Hurst nerd too because this easily caught my attention.

Guess I'm confused too. I've never seen a drain plug on one of these tanks, let alone an inner tank. What exactly does that mean?
As the color suggests it is a “red tag”. Common even in manufacturing today. If a part doesn’t meet quality control it is usually red tagged until, A. The part is fixed and approved; B. Lucky for you there is no writing on it. Meaning it may have fallen into your car, or was accidentally stuck to the back of the carpet as it was drug across the floor.
If it had writing, the part should have never left the factory.
I found this under the carpet in my '65 Formula S Barracuda.
I found these items under the carpet and in/up/under the dash.
The car was first titled in Clovis, NM, which was agricultural then and now. The pen had escaped from the glove box and was laying inside on the IP frame. It says Castle Egg Farm, Dexter NM, which was about 130 miles away from Clovis.
Davidson Rubber came off of something under the dash (I think) because it was under the carpet near the brake pedal.
S&H Green Stamps are a distant memory.
The bobby pin was found behind the kick panel on the driver's side. What was a woman's head doing on that side of a man's car?

But you just reminded me of my wife finding a fake finger nail under the kitchen sink. One of those cheap "press on nails". She thought it may have been my ex wife's, but no, she never wore those. In my head, I started going down the list of girlfriends when I was between wives, and could only think of one that wore those tacky things... Then I wondered what the hell would she (or any of them) have been doing under the sink. I ended up shrugging my shoulders on that one.
Anyway... I found a Desoto dealer pen under the back seat in mine... I'll have to look for it.. I think I tossed it in my tool box.
I also found this in the area above the passenger floor vent when I took the dash out.
5/8 drill.

Here's another bit of Hurst nerd stuff: The hood locks, which I understand to be the exact same item as on the '72 Hurst/Olds, look like this on the underside. And you can be sure there's no Chrysler P/N on it, unlike virtually any other tiny trim part of our cars from that era.

The 1970 Shelby Mustang used these Kind of locks as well.

The Davidson Rubber co. used to be the largest supplier of Dashboards and other padded Vinyl interior trim for the US car industry, so I guess it most likely came from the Dashboard itself.
