Anyone ever buy one of these or similar? I need one to keep at a condo and the aluminum / light weight is a plus. Just been leary of some things Harbor Freight sells.

My floor jack is an old Sears model...I'd imagine it's hard nowadays to find one that's not Chinese.

It is very difficult. You gotta buy used or dig deep but its doing your part:usflag:

Yes it is difficult. A quick Google search showed some American made Jack's that were over $400 and only had marginal reviews. Certainly I'm all for buying American but if I'm gonna pay for it give me the quality. :soapbox:

Do you trust aluminum? IMHO - buy a jack that's twice as strong as what you need. '68 Sports Fury? That's not some lightweight import you can throw around. Harbor Freight has an ongoing recall on three models of jack stands... So, if you must buy HF (What is your life worth? What is your current policy payment per month?), buy a 3-ton for your boat, unless it comes with a life insurance policy for your wife. Wait. You said your wife bought you this for your birthday - early? Just kidding... about the birthday gift, only.

I have a very bad back and an aluminum jack was the only option for lifting a jack into my truck or trailer. However, I also have a lift and an old steel floor jack & several bottle jacks to use depending upon my needs. I’m not getting under anything using just the HF aluminum jack but for changing tires it works fine. I buy U. S. goods when I can.

they JUST had a recall like a week ago on some jacks - not these models i dont think - but some. imma club member and i got a notice.

BUT - the rule is - if life or limb depends on it buy snap-on.
if you can break 3 of them and throw away 2 more, use HFT.

really.

try not to die -

I have two and have not had any problems with mine.

The one I bought was "ok" for a while, then i began to notice it not holding up under pressure (lifting one corner of a car) soon after it started to leak oil...

i've had one for a few years now. works great and it's light enough that i can pick it up by the handle and carry it with one hand.

It's easy to sling around, change a tire, check brakes at a glance. Don't use it on anything but smooth concrete, it is not happy on less than ideal conditions, and you can definitely not roll the car around on it.

I've been using one of those aluminum floor jacks from HF for 6/7 years. Never had any problems with the only exception being, every once in a while the alan key that holds the long forward wheel in place does come loose.
Being light weight is a plus, as in taking it with on a road trip to Carlisle, where it got used on the road, and on the show field. Glad I had it..

Thanks for all the replies, there's a store not far from me, I'll take a look at it and see. I need it to do some work on a Town & Country van, one wheel at a time. I always thought at the Condo I'd just take things in to get done. However, when one pair of brakes runs about $500 these days and can buy the pads and rotors and swap them out for less than $100. I know, I'm cheap.

remember....all that's holding that jack up is a little O ring made in china....Jackstands are your friends.....
