The car is finally done, so I call it ‘new’. Took 5 months to rebuild the rear end (thanks for all the help folks). Everything is new and/or rebuilt but the body (leaving it as found from original owner.....

thinking it needs new wheels. Slotted Anson rims? Cragars? What would an old Plymouth have?

Very nice and great job!

American Racing Torq-Thrust Ds are ‘can’t go wrong’. I’d keep them 15” in diameter so you can have some sidewall and have a smoother ride than some AFX tires.

Very nice looking Plymouth. Torque Thrust or chrome rims with baby moon hubcaps would be a period correct look. I like just as it is. Those wide whites are right for that time period.

if you havent upgraded the brakes to at least a dual circuit master cylinder i'd be doing that before the wheels.
lets see some more pics !
and i'd leave the stock wheels w hubcaps n whitewalls, these days every 60 mopar i see has torque thrusts........

I wasn’t thinking baby moons or torque thrust. Great ideas. I’ll go look at them.

The paint is well worn and it has lots of ‘whiskey dents’ - original owner’s reason for them - apparently from ‘parking in the garage by feel at night’ so I was hoping to ‘mean up’ the exterior.

I’ll post some pics in the am, but the real cool factor is all the sound deadening before the new interior. Dead silent inside and the rebuilt big block poly 318 really scoots. It is super fun to drive and the stock wheels are just too pedestrian.

That was what I saw in the Heat of The Night which got me looking for one of these. Maybe I’ll pull them off and see how I like it. Would give it a little more mean.

A little more mean????? The forward look era, speared by Virgil Exner, was a era of beautiful, advanced auto styling designed to emulate the aviation, space and rocket images so admired at the time. Moving away from wide whites and OEM wheel covers that were designed to accent that style diminishes that.
So many folks will purchase after market wheels and tires based only on how the tire and wheel combo looks with no regard to how it will effect the overall style and appearance of their vehicle.
There were no custom wheels available in the forward look era and none made now that will improve those vehicles. Especially wrong are white letter tires.
There..... JMHO.....

Personally, I would loose the skirts to.

Those very wheel covers were popular with customizers. Baby moons, full moons or the Dodge Lancer covers with a spinner were classic custom touches back then.

The body and paint is pretty beat. I think it looks ‘better’ in person. But with the skirts off I play with the wheel covers. The car I was emulating had no skirts and no rear covers but had front covers.

I'm not a big fan of fender skirts,but chrome ones with the chrome washboard trim work on a 60 ply.
Stock full size 60 wheel covers are kinda boring,so are 61s
