I messed up the threads on this bolt while removing it. Can anyone tell me where I can find a replacement? It's one of a pair of bolts that hold the lower suspension (the piece the torsion bar attaches to) to the spindle (axle) on my 1968 Newport.
Edit: The bolt is 5/8-18 and about 2-5/8" long with a split pin hole at the end.

Thanks!

Do you have access to a tap & die set? You can get the correct die for your bolt's thread size and restore the damaged threads. You are not going to find that bolt at the local hardware store. Good luck.

Lots of derby activity in MN unfortunately. Find those guys dismantling cars or hit up the salvage yards.

I was hoping there was a source for new ones but didn't think the chances were too high. I did find a bolt at a hardware store that I think I could modify to work. Otherwise I do have access to a 5/8-18 die. Was concerned that the threads wouldn't hold up as well though after being smashed. That might be the best place to start though.

I personally don’t think that bolt is salvageable.

When I strip down a parts car I take every last nut, bolt, clip I can before it goes to the wreckers....I will check my bins and see if i can find one. Did the nut get damaged too?

I already checked my stash.

Byron- (Dakota connection out of Bismarck ND) may have something he saves most as well He also comes to Mopars in the Park with parts.

Especially in this application.

Put a wanted ad in the wanted section. We have all sorts of guys parting out cars that won't even glance at this thread, but will see a chance to sell a bolt for a couple bucks (or even give it to you) and there ya go...

Thanks for checking your parts bins guys. I really appreciate it. And thank you for the other tips and advice. I'm new to the Mopar world so am learning as I go.
I just sent Byron from The Dakota Connection an email. If he doesn't have one I'll post a request in the parts wanted section.
