    Orange plug wires.

Mine came from Lectric. I have a 400 with points. They are black wires with a date of 1972 on them. I saw your first post asking me, i didn't mean to take so long to reply.

My 1972 Newport: a true survivor car

Last year I ran out of spare money to sink into the car. Just yesterday I finally pulled the block out and it's just about ready for the machine shop. I've had all the parts just waiting in my garage for some time now. Life has been in the way. This morning I got the new evaporator core, and...

    Factory Radio Wiring Question

That schematic helps a lot, thank you. My car has two speakers. One dash, and one rear. It looks like the best option is to wire each speaker as an individual channel. Green to front, and violet to rear as you said. I read about wiring both channels together with a resistor between them, but...

    Factory Radio Wiring Question

Like many of us, my 1972 Newport has an AM only mono radio. It also has the fader and rear speaker. I recently picked up a factory AM/FM radio. The problem is, the output wires are stereo. Is there a way to wire it into the original setup without frying anything?

    Reproduction Tires

Bias/belted would be preferred, but I've yet to find any. I'm not partial to bias ply, I just like the look of them better. The car has had the same set of Mastercraft tires on it for 6 years. They look okay, but the traction is on the brink of death in the rain. I may just have to find the...

    Reproduction Tires

How have your experiences been with reproduction bias-ply tires? When I get my 72 Newport back together, it will need a new set of tires. I like the ride of Hankook tires on one of my other cars, but i'm not a fan of how they look. I've been looking at Coker tires this time...

    1969 power steering gear color

David, natural iron parts look pretty good when covered in graphite stove polish. It can be had at Menards here in town in the fireplace section.

    Rear Axle Bearing Noise

Put the seal in the coldest part of your freezer the night before and put them in as quick as you can after taking them out. Makes it much easier. I also had trouble with them not wanting to go in straight, but I didn't have proper tools at the time. Mine were beyond repacking, but a grease...

    How many New Yorker's Left?

My highschool science teacher had a formal New Yorker. Drove it to work every day, and still used it for vacations. When he retired in 2015 or so, it had over 300,000 miles. He was proud that he had kept it so long, and talked about it like it was a trophy to his years of maintenance. Any car...

    "SHOW CAR" Build Sheet

I was speaking strictly about evidence on the broadcast sheet. If the car's original use was within the company, a sale at a dealership later wouldn't show up on the sheet.

    "SHOW CAR" Build Sheet

Up in the top right corner of the sheet "Fleet/bid/lease 70" has code 3 under it. I've tried to search and have no idea what that code means, but the answer should tell you something. A show car used for display would have never went to a dealership, been leased etc... The Ford code for my "Show...
