No way I’m buying a car like that and not driving it.
Anyone know how long it took for the steering wheels to start cracking and splitting back in the day?

They have what you need.

Is that even the correct steering wheel?

I really like this car though! I used to really not like the '63 and '64 Chryslers. My Dad had a '63 Newport and I never warmed up to it, but they are starting to grow on me. Maybe it's because the styling is so different.

Never heard of a Silver Edition. I know 64s were Golden Anneversery

What is the story on whether you got a round or square steering wheel on these? Was it just a matter of which box you checked?

You can barely see in the photo the tiny "adjustable steering wheel" script below "Chrysler."

This one really gets me excited. I usually like the cleaner ornamentation of the '63 but this combo really works. Incredible style. The main shortcoming in these models for me is the narrow track compared to the bodywork. Wider wheels and beefier tires really help. Too bad Chrysler didn't follow Pontiac's "wide-track" lead on these.

Far as I know '64 Chrysler 300's were round steering wheel only. Think this one has a dual diaphragm booster on it, so it may also have disc brake upgrade which would explain the 15" road wheels. Nice car.

There was a problem with the curing of the resin, they all cracked quickly, the hotter the location, the quicker they went. As a sidebar, the foam padding in the padded dashes also turned to dust very quickly.

My 64 300K has this wheel. Maybe the non-letter 300 were round only??

I have a '64 300k with the tilt column and the round wheel, so I am thinking that both must have been available, might well have been a buyer specified option. John is probably right that the round wheel came with the tilt column. Most of the Square wheels I remember were on '63 models before the tilt option became common.

Dave.
