I was digging through some old photos and came across this pic (the top one) of my girl friend, me, and my '65 Sport Fury in the spring of 1966 (I think). The second is of its virtual twin '65 we acquired 50 years later. The "WE" is rather significant as that "girl friend" has been my wife since shortly after that first pic was taken.
However, I think the interesting things about the pics is the way we considered things "cool" back then. I special ordered that first '65 in 1964, so it came with the spinner wheel covers and fender skirts, but I discarded both in favor of just the baby moons.
When I speak of them being twins, they're not identical, but fraternal. Both were Medium Red Metallic and matching interior with the 426-S and 4-speed. The recent one has a radio, bumper guards, vinyl roof, and console tach which the first didn't have although the latter did have power brakes and I did add a radio later. Neither had/have A/C or PS. That girl didn't have the slightest problem shifting that big clutch or steering that big block MoPar, even in high heels ("Honey, I really dusted off a '66 Goat today.")
Great cars.
