my 70 newport has come a long way since I bought the car, since then I’ve replaced the tires, rechromed the rear bumper, complete engine rebuild (383) and now having the seats redone. I’ve decided to keep the theme, but ditch the head rests, and insert cloth pattern and buttons. Essentially keeping the same look but all vinyl across the same color. Here’s a sneak peek of the work in progress seats, I’ll post more pics when they are done!

Wow! Nice. Still have the Fury?

thanks, yeah unfortunetly I no longer have the fury, I have sellers remorse big time! Its the one that got away. Thats how it goes sometimes, the Newport however is keeping me entertained just fine, really dig this road behemoth!

The Newport is looking great! It's hard to forget that car. I like going the all vinyl route, and dropping the buttons. I've got some cover's to install on my '70 Newport which I'm still debating on the buttons.

I personally like the look of headrests, to each their own. They are easy enough to reinstall, should anyone want to. So long as they're still around? If so it may be wise to ask for a 1/4 meter, or enough to do both headrests, of the same vinyl from the upholsterer. But then I do tend to overthink things.

Before and after shots?

Yeah Ive made up my mind, no buttons is cleaner and no headrests either, I think 1969 is when headrests were introduced. I like the pre 69 bench seat look no headrests better. I'd like to see your seat covers when you get them on too, I almost went that route but it made more sense to me to pay alittle more and just redo the seats

What is the color an color code on your Newport. i love the color.

my car has been repainted by the previous owner with a custom color not sure what it is, but I like it, its not factory. Its close but has more of a richer turqois-ish pearl blue in it.

FYI, headrests came out in 1968 as an option. I'd rather by in an accident in one of my C Body's than in a Smart Car or some other tiny car. Headrests keep you from breaking your neck as your head whips backwards in a rear-end collision.

Yeah I’d rather be in a C body as well, and yes I’m well aware of the function of headrests. My 58 plymouth didn’t even come with them and I drive that car too, so I do my best to be careful and be aware of my surroundings when driving these cars. Luckily for me this newport isn’t a daily driver.
