    NOT MINE 65 300 L 4 Speed In NM

Oh if I had the money? Back in the summer of '65 (in prehistoric times) I had a friend that move cars around for the local Chrysler dealer. He was tagged to drive a car from a Chicago suburb to a dealer in Iowa. Being 18 and reared in a Chrysler family I jumped at the opportunity to be his...

    Welcome, 67_300_Convertible

I would love to hear it run, too. The shop tells me that will happen tomorrow... Modifications: EXHAUST So the TTI exhaust and headers went in great. These guys work on lots of Mopars (and two of them own C-bodies - that's partly why I chose this shop), and they were impressed at how well...

    Picking a new torque converter

Why do you think that you need more than a stock torque converter? You have a low compression RV 440 with more cam than you need and a 3.23 rear gear. Just because the cam manufacturer suggests a 2000 stall speed doesn’t mean it’s what you need. Note the comments about a low gear, which you...

Daily driver gear ratio 8 3/4 rearend

I always liked the 2.XY (not sure if 2.76 or 2.94, tag not fully legible. Will count turns again soon) on our old '66 Newport. On the highway it got OK petrol economy, though I ran a lot of 2nd gear in town. I admit the 3.23 on our '68 seduces one with quicker off the line performance...

Labor cost for pressing axle bearings??

I've always removed the old bearings and handed the shop the bearings I wanted to use rather than what someone had in stock. I'd use a good shop and get a quote up front. The last shop, I brought the axles in and the guy behind the counter said "Mopar axles", so I knew I was going to be OK...

Questions related to Broadcast Sheet and Fender Tag coding

C54 - Speaking of interior, does this code correspond to the interior color? C54 = Split back bench seat/center console. This is the '4' in your M4 interior code. C93 - I believe is for the carpeting. The carpet is original and dark tan/brownish - does this code also give you the carpet color...

Loosing the torsion bars and replacing the shocks with coil overs?

I think I might have discovered the reason for the pre-fab front suspension for the A,B,E-body cars, which includes coil-overs on the front. NOTHING about the common issues of "torsion bars getting the way of headers" or anything like that. The smaller platforms for which the front structure...

    NOT MINE 65 300 L 4 Speed In NM

A 4-speed makes all the difference! And with those options that was a heavy Slab. From my recent experience picking up/moving L front buckets, power vs non, that power seat mechanism alone adds ~30 lbs, and that car had 2 of them.

noisy rearend gears - or is it??? 3.55 8-3/4"

I agree with the above. Most gear train noise and bearing noise change pitch with speed and is usually a whining. I test bearings by going to a big parking lot and drive straight, left and right and see if the noise changes, if so it is usually a bad bearing. You could be having a trans...

1966 Sport Fury. Where to start?

...Years ago, I had the 2 four-barrel version in my 57. I added an Isky cam and kit, Hedman headers, Mallory ignition and 3:54 to 1 sure grip rear. It ran pretty well and got me in the 14 second range back in the mid-sixties using cheater slicks. If you added a four-barrel manifold and a good...

    Rear differential oil question

The synthetics are overkill in an 8.75" rear end, but they won't hurt anything. Do not run the synthetic with a sure grip. If you have a sure grip, both wheels will turn the same way when turning one rear wheel or the other. Dave
